Sham trotted silently into a clearing. She didn't care if there were horses there or not. She hadn't seen one in a while now, and was hoping one would just ind her. Sun shown down on her coat, warming her back. Her pitch black tail flowed out behind her, and her green eyes watched as her front hooves beat the ground with each step. 'What are you doing?' Sham threw her hooves into the ground, suddenly stopping, she looked for the voice. 'If your looking for others, then why do you have your head down like a scared wolf?' Sham snorted. It was just another on of those voices again. Sham started back up, this time galloping, loving the feel of the wind whipping her mane and tail back, the sting in her eyes when she looked straight ahead. Sham slowed to a trot, taking in the surroundings. She hadn't realized that the sun had started to set. She needed to find shelter. She looked up and saw stars starting to appear. This wasn't good. The wolves would be out soon, and she had not fended for herself in a long time. Sham drew in sharp, panicked breaths, frantically searching. She screamed out, loud, hoping someone would hear her... find her before the wolves did.

The golden mare pranced her way through the trees. She had lost Scath, he had left one night as soon as she had begun to heal. She could move now with no strain, no real injury left. Occasionally her back would protest or her hindquarters would give out when she spun around on a moments notice but otherwise all was good. Her audita perked forwards as she heard a shrill noise fill the air, disturbing the winged creatures from their sleep and causing them to fall and then glide upwards in an almost elegant fashion. Of course, she could see nothing, but she could sense the wolves that were nearby. And if that was a mare, alone, it was not a good sign. So, picking up her pace, she galloped forwards, stopping mere inches from the mares side. Her nostrils flared as she took in more air. Wolves were ducking in the trees planning their strike. Too bad they didnt realize that Rasta didnt plan on getting injured again - at least not this soon into recovery. [/blockquote] ===Into the mind .176 words .Done from phone

Sham snorted, noticing another mare galloping towards her. Finally. Another horse. It had been 3 years, with only glimpses of hides. Sham didn't spend her time gawking at her though, as the wolves darted and swerved through the trees. Sham stamped her front hoof, her green eyes watching them wearily. They were moving in slowly, trying to give them to way to escape. It was now or never. This was a bad way to start a friendship, but Sham nipped the mare slightly and took off at a gallop, 'Hurry!' Sham called out, pelting away from the wolves, they could easily catch up, but it was better then being cornered.

Slowly making her way through the forest, Qeer's ears were pricked, and her senses were spiked, as they were most of the time. Sharply turning her head to the left, the foal's eyes had widened, the pupils of her eyes had shrunk down to the size of a pin prick. Right in front of her muzzle, a dark shadow in the shape of an equine had flashed passed, bringing the scent of another mare along with her. In the gust of wind that the mare had created by cutting through the silent, still air particles, causing them to stir, there was a slight thread of another creature’s scent that had lingered on with her. Though the foal had never been introduced to this new idea of this being, there was something in her, something that ran through her veins, which alerted her mind that whatever this thing was, it was harmful, and was a threat to her safety. The safety she has so far been protecting well. Frozen in place, Qeer was struck of the idea of what to do. Should she choose the follow the mare, would the harm follow her? And if the foal chooses to go and head in the direction of the mare who was left behind, what would happen then?

Sham hadn't noticed the foal as she ran flat out, until her scent whirled past her. Sham dug her hooves into the ground and briskly ran back. Sham cocked her head to the side. Where was the foal's mother? 'Hello little one... where is your mother?' Sham snorted, her eyes darting back to the foal and where the other mare still stood, and back again. She couldn't just leave the little foal there by herself. 'Common, we need to go.' Sham said to her, nudging her softly, Sham pawed the ground worridly, her eyes glancing back and forth again. Sham watched as a bright yellow gleam of eyes glanced at her from the nearby trees, and that spot let out a shard howl. Sham whinnied shrilly and nudged the foal again, a called out to the other mare. 'HURRY!' All the wolves sprung out of the woods.

Karuk easily worked his way through the forest, the stream he had just visited still echoing off the trees. Kilton sat on his withers, his wings dripping slightly from the water. The drops splattered against Karuk's pelt, quickly evaporating in this extreme heat. He shook his head, Kilton protesting and digging his talons into his skin as the eagle fought to stay on his back. Karuk picked up a trot, enjoying the feel of the air against his pelt with the increased pace. The trees around him offered some shade from the sun, but the heat remained. He snorted, his foot steps muffled by the damp ground and leaving imprints in the dirt. Kilton pushed off of his shoulder, flying ahead and disappearing into the trees. Though, he soon came flying back, screeching. Karuk slid to a stop, ears pricked forward. What was going on? The eagle landed on Karuk's neck, his feet intertwining with his mane. He stood alert, listening to the sounds of the forest around him. He heard the pounding hoof beats of another equine. Why were they in such a hurry? He turned in the direction the other was, picking up a trot once again and keeping his ears focused on the sounds around him. He slowed when he started to hear growling. Wolves? So that was the reason for such haste.
Karuk continued forward, his eyes watching the shadows for the dark canine shapes. He saw a golden mare ahead, standing still between the trees as if waiting for something. He saw another mare, grey and black, standing next to a foal. A foal? He started towards them, immediately deciding that the foal would need the most help getting away from the wolves. He could hear them coming closer and he felt Kilton tense. The grey mare was beginning to panic, whinnying and itching to run away. That would only end in a chase. He nickered softly, alerting them of his presence. Hopefully he could calm them down before the wolves attacked. Right now they smelled like food; like fear. Though, the dark shapes leaped from the shadows and there wasn't anything he could do to avoid it now. He huffed, lurching forward; Kilton screeched and took to the air, flying forward to aid in any way he could.
Karuk kicked out at the nearest wolves, hearing them yelp and retreat into the trees. He knew they wouldn't be gone for long, returning with others; adding to the many that were already here. He stood beside the mare and foal now, turning to face the wolves. Their yellow eyes stared at him, their lips pulled tight over sharp teeth. He heard the high pitched sound of Kilton's call, only moments before he came barreling down from the sky and onto one of the dark wolves, his talons scratching against it's eyes. It shrieked in pain before retreating, the others looking to the skies as well as at the equines; realizing the new threat. "I do believe, now would be the time to flee." He said, his voice calm and formal. He risked a glance behind him, enough to see if the two had begun to get away before turning and kicking out at the wolves. He then raced forward, staying even with the slower moving foal and making sure none of the wolves got close. "What did you guys do to anger them?" he asked, his ears listening closely for the wolves behind him. He could hear Kilton attacking them, one by one. He knew that bird would come in handy some day.

LUCY O LAOGHOGH Flaxen mare had yet to meet any in her minimal travels here, which was, admittedly, lucky for them. Her plan had been that, had they attempted to touch her, Lucy would have been severely inclined to rip their pretty little face off. A lady must protect herself, after all! And Lucy was a lady - a frackin' lady, ya hear? Refined and elegant, never a word or hair out of place - oh, who was she kidding? Like a proper, benevolent mistress, Lucy really didn't care about what she looked like. Didn't care that her body was so thin the wind could knock her over. Didn't care that her bones constantly bruised her from the inside as it threatened to burst through. Didn't care that her mane and tail were wispy and ragged. She was clean, at least - stockings prove one's virtue, and dirty stockings, well, that's just no good!
Ears flickered as she listened to the sprinkling water. It was... pretty, sure, in a gag-me way. Someone was bound to get hurt - and Lucy wouldn't let it be her. The souls of the drowned calmed her mind, though; death wasn't a new aspect to the ravaged mare. A gentle breeze played with her mane, throwing her creme, choppy-looking hair into the brightening sky, dancing like Medusa's snakes. The breeze also brought something else - the cry of hysterical mare. Probably dropped her baby on its wretched head - good riddance. Well, Lucy was tired of being alone - better to bicker than bow to the leeches in her brain! Jarring trot brought her slowly towards the the sound, nose high in it's quest to find the other. Strange - the higher she reached, the less she could smell her. Perhaps the other was shorter than the killer queen? It really made no matter. And if shorter at all, it would only be slight. And there was another, taller scent perhaps. Mostly, though... Lucy could smell the delicious tang of fear.
Lucy finally saw the screamer, a heavier (but then, a yearling was heavier than the irish mare) mare, with sun-filled eyes, looking to be half mad from madness (it was a rare trait, but one Lucy understood and partook in often). "Well," Lucy muttered to herself. "Looks like I won't have a stimulating conversation with this one." The crazies were never much fun to talk to, but Lucy o Laoghogh, being the lovely lady, would deign speak to one who seemed, in part, similar to herself (shhh - don't tell Lucy!). It was then that the leech queen noticed the others (a mare, a foal, and ugh - a stalion). Tail flicked idly, watching the first mare shriek as the stallion fought the wolves lazily. Pity. Wolves were something Lucy could respect, cunning killers with glowing eyes that stole your soul before they ripped it to shreds. "Don't break you face, sweetcheeks. Your looks are all you've got goin' for you at all," the low words glided from the frail-looking mare as she took a few more steps towards her intended victim, finally moving from out of the shadows. The chestnut was, apparently, in a rather... normal mood. Maybe someone was going to get hurt. Possibly by Lucy, or - more likely, by a tree branch. Because branches are dangerous. The wolves were worse, but... oh, everyone underestimated the branches!

Sham snorted as a stallion approached, and she took a step closer to the foal. While he scared a few off, a eagle came pelting down, it's eyes gleaming. Sham looked away as another mare approached. Sham snorted and pawed the ground. 'Hah, as if' Sham said lazily, unaffected by her words, flicking her ebony tail. Her green eyes watched as a wolf approached the stuck-up mare. Sham rolled her eyes, if she wasn't going to be more aware, she wasn't going to last long.
Sham charged towards the wolf, who's yellow eyes watched the other mare, and Sham whinnied shrilly, before she reared and landed on its dull grey head. The wolf yellped, stumbling, and bleeding badly from a long gash on his head. Sham kicked it fiercley in the jaw, hearing a snapping sound, and the wolf fell limp. Sham snorted confidently and flicked her tail again, before trotting off where the stallion and foal were. Sham glanced at the mare, watching her with her deep green eyes. She didn't need a fight.
Sham nudged the foal slightly, her green eyes watching the remaining wolves be fended off by the giant eagle. Sahm pawed the ground, her eyes drooping, she needed sleep. She hadn't actual slept sense the giant earthquake, and her back leg was matted with blood, where a big bolder had narrowly missed her but scraped down her hindquarters to her hoof, if still hurt, and she lifted it, hoping to ease the sharp pain. Sham's ebony black hair was matted with twigs, blood, and debrees. Her deep green eyes had no life in them, as they usually did.

Still in shock, the foal was puzzled by all the commotion that was going on with an unknown source of fear and terror. The mare who had sped by had seemed to noticed her, and came back, which she found crazy, yet slightly comforting. Qeer looked up at the mare and took in her words. "Where is your mother?" Ha, mother. Such a simple, yet to some, meaningful word. But to her, this word meant nothing, and it has never, and would never, be part of her vocabulary. At the sudden chuckle, a small break in the midst of this chaos, the foal simply chuckled and looked up at the hurried and pressured equine. Miss, I don’t have one. Her reply was simple, yet filled with a story, a story indeed, that was part of her life, and still growing childhood. Though she had her moment of laughter, there were still problems seeming to surround them, which caused her to become uneasy at the fact of not knowing what the danger was. Pricking her ears, her senses seeming to have become even sharper since the problem arose, the foal turned her head over to the stallion that had appeared from the brush. He seemed like an ally, one to help fight off the terror. Suddenly, turning sharply in another direction, she hooked eyes with the enemy. Oh, the creature was beautiful, yet, was made of the deepest evil. Eyes that shone like yellow tinted stars, yet a black iris that melted through your soul. A pelt that melted in with the nature around it, camouflaged in its advantage on unknowing prey. The way it was built was lean, yet rippling with muscles. A beautiful killer it was, and Qeer was mesmerized in awe and in fear of it. What is it? But there was no time for an answer. The stallion had begun to fight the creatures yet again, and had advised for both the mare and herself to run, which taking from the fact that the new creatures, which she had named the Sharp Teeth, were eyeing all three of them like she would nice green vegetation; she decided that he was right. Turning, she began to pick up a canter, not knowing where she should be going, and confused on where and where not the Sharp Teeth were hidden. As she tried to keep pace with the stallion, she looked up at him, trying to answer his question, but she had no answer. I didn’t even know they were here, Sir.

Karuk noticed someone else coming up towards them; emaciated form almost disappearing into the distance. The grey/red creature stepping forward uninterested in the situation. "Don't break your face, sweetcheecks. Your looks are all you've got going for you at all," she said, sliding from the shadows of the nearby trees. He huffed, ears twisting and listening for any more of the wolves to approach. Kilton screeched as he flew in closer, halting right above Karuk's shoulder and then dropping onto his perch. He dragged his bloodstained talons across Karuk's pelt, the colors blending together easily. "Hah, as if," the other mare said, unimpressed. Karuk was a tad confused. Did they know each other or something? He didn't think so, but he could be wrong, of course. The other mare suddenly bolted forward, striking out at a lone wolf who hadn't left with the others. He snorted softly, his body relaxing now that the threat had been taken care of. The unknown grey mare came prancing back towards him and the foal he stood next to.
At the thought of the smaller equine, his attention turned to her. Was the grey mare her mother? He felt so out of sorts, not knowing anything about this situation. "I didn't even know they were here, Sir," the foal said. Yes, he didn't imagine any of them had known the wolves were here. His heart tugged at how blind these creatures were. How unaware they were. If they had just been paying attention, they wouldn't have had to fight against the wolves. More than likely they lived nearby and were just protecting any pups they might have. If they had just paid attention, nothing would have happened. And perhaps, if the older one, they grey and black one, hadn't of gone into a panic, the wolves wouldn't have chased them. A chase makes them think food, and because she ran, that's what she had become. He sighed silently, the others of his race had so much to learn about the earth and the other creatures they shared it with.
"I do believe, they have moved on," he said, once the sounds of the canines were disappearing and blending in with the sounds of the rest of the forest. Kilton bobbed his head as if in agreement before gently pushing off Karuk's back and onto the ground in front of the foal they stood next to. The equine ignored the bird, focusing on the adults in front of him. "Next time you should be more aware of your surroundings," he said, his words directed at the grey one, "The wolves were unnecessarily punished for protecting themselves." he finished, his voice deep and rumbling but calm, not letting his anger taint his words.
