Taj knew the end was near, and that bothered him. Why couldn't be be allowed to roam any longer? Why could he have no more fun pushing limits? Why did it all have to end? I dunno, you reached the end of the island? Idiot. Gimme a break. I can't have seen it all. You best believe it kid, there's nowhere left to go. Really, it's a small island if you think about it in perspective. You can't really have thought it would last you longer than three years. Four at least. That's how many territories, seasons, and alphas there are. Make your peace, see the last of it, and settle down. Shut up. I'm not sure I'm done. You don't get a choice. The tan and white stud shook his head, attempting to dislodge the little voice that talked back. Of course, he hadn't really had a choice in getting it, had he? Everyone needed someone to narrate their story, and he had just won the luck of the draw in getting this one, and annoying as it was, at least he had drawn one that didn't get lazy about it's duty. Nope. Report anything and everything you do!Great. Go away. He sighed and let it fade. He'd live with it, no doubt, because only serious brain trauma would fix it, and then he'd be a right buggar to look at. He had to stay pretty if he wanted to keep his preferred company, sick as the game was, it was how it worked. He played well too, though he'd never caught a fish and fried it. He liked being free to associate with them all. The whole mate thing had just never happened, perhaps because no one had been able to slow his wandering long enough to get more than a few dates. It could happen now though, with no where left to go. I just want to see the North tip, then I'm done. He'd told it to himself a thousand times though, and not once had it ever paid off.
He knew it was over though, when he thought about it. He needed to stop, kick back, rest a while. He'd been on the move his whole life, but after seeing it all, he could restrict himself somewhere, couldn't he? He would be of some service to an Alpha after seeing all the lands, but he didn't want to be used for his knowledge either. A home was a place where you felt welcome because people loved you. His thoughts were truncated by the first fat drop of rain to reach his hide. He adored rain, but things were quite wet here already. His whole picky journey north had been over streams and through rivers. He honestly wasn't sure they could swell much more. Not his problem though, as long as he didn't drown in them. Giggle, sigh, and half baked rat. So you've got no purpose! Go out and find one then Mister, and quit moping about. Right-o Captain. Like you're a great example of that. Taj stopped and sighed. The clouds weren't about to stop, but the weather was pleasant enough for him to wan to to stand here and get soaked. He closed his eyes, and let himself imagine he was elsewhere, wandering with his mother. He knew he'd never see her again, but she would have enjoyed this too. He may have grown up, but he never lost that part of his childhood self. Rain went with love and his mother, just like adventure went with what he'd been told of his father. Two little chunks of past, all he was waiting on. Someone bring him to the present. Make him a little more entertaining. Oh shaddap. So it begins again.

Resounding Memories;;Rasta[/sup] So lock your doors and take a breath, don't fall asleep, prepare yourself Rasta snorted quietly, perking her ears forward and snapping her hooves up against her chest as she pranced ahead towards yet another rock covered river. Her mane flew back into the wind whipping against her body and allowing her to concentrate on the sounds of her feet against the ground, sending constant vibrations away from her and back, alerting her of a few oncoming trees. Pulling herself in closer and closer she could feel the movement of another equine. Her nares now flared out she tilted her cranium up to the sky slightly. Taking in a deep breath she allowed her thoughts to wander. Why was another equine in her land of water and destruction? Where exactly had they come from? She hadn't seen another equine on her lands in quite some time. Most had either fallen in battle, or spread out along the borders, not daring to venture too far into lands that were now so divided. It was quite a strange, eery feeling that something like this provided, but at least it kept everyone from going to tooth to hoof in battle and killing each and everyone off. But, still. Who could this other equine be? It was strange in itself. As she edged closer she finally picked up the scent which she had been searching for in the first place. A stag, I see. He has no right to be here looking for a herd. For one thing, he will not recieve one from I. No, he will not Oh. But this mind of hers was to stay silent, or she would walk into trees or brush, or fall into a river. Apparently there were no threats around her for it never usually pipped up as it just had. Shaking her head once and shoving the thoughts out of her head she pulled herself deeper into the shadows before edging around a bit closer to this stag. Should she alert him of her presence, or wait until he found out she had been standing there? She wasn't really one to barge in. Yes, she could fight. Yes, she could show love. But, she wanted peace, and occasionally, just entering wrong could cause someone to lash out, as she had done before to another equine. And first impressions were hard to change. So approach, or allow the shadows to hide everything except her ivory eyes? She lifted one flint to take a step forwards, before letting out a tiny snort. No, it was safer if she stayed hidden, stayed in the shadows. It was just much safer that way, much much safer. So, she placed her flint back down just as quietly as she had brought it up and waited to see if he would notice she was near.

Gazella
A mare for thinking and wondering 'Rain!' thought Zella as her hoofs stomped through the wet mush that other herds dared to call a ground. She approached a stream and paused before entering the wild raging water. She sunk up to her knees in the rushing water of the stream, frustration took over Zella's emotions. She would not be carried away in the current. Pushing her legs harder Zella exited on the other side, and breathed a sigh of relief. Another drop of rain hit Zella square in the face before it began pounding down all around her. 'Great'. It wasn't so much that Zella hated the rain, she just hated being cut off from over flowing streams. She considered taking shelter however she wanted to push on and get as far as possible. Her hoofs kept moving, and she tossed her mane, trying to flick some water out of it. All her life Zella had gone from one place before moving on to another, she just wondered around aimlessly. A smile crossed her lips as the tree's began to thin, and Zella took a random sniff at the air. 'Ah! The shore.' It still had yet to occur to Zella that the shore meant the end of the island. The end of her journey, but instead she picked up speed and began to bolt towards the end, the path now clearer then ever. Her feet tripped over each other in her excitement but she regained her balance. She was now snorting and huffing in her excitement, nothing would stop her now! She continued to run only to come sliding to a stop. A stag was near by. She panicked what should she do? But before she had even made up her mind she crept forward. Years of being alone her finally taken over, she was curious. Zella wondering if the stag had heard her earlier entrance to the area, she figured if her did he would her searching or at least looking for her. But instead he stood still, thinking or complimenting something. Zella's grey body stood out like a sore thumb, so she moved with caution and silence. She crept closer trying to avoid stepping on sticks, keeping unnecessary noise out of the equation. 'There!' She thought as her eyes rested on the tan/grey stag. She titled her head to the side as she watched him. The stag had his eyes closed and seemed to be lost in another world. Quietly Zella watched him from her stake out, knowing he would no doubt smell her soon. Her eyes studied him with a careful evaluation, trying to guess certain things about him. 'Alpha or wanderer?' Zella thought to herself. Who on earth would just stand in the rain alone? Who could look so sad...so lonely yet still have a power and status radiating around him? Zella was fascinated by him...she had to know more. She wondered who his family was...why - if he was a wondering soul - did he wonder the earth like herself? She Knowing that she couldn't stay in her hiding place much longer Zella did a careful survey of the shore, choosing to keep a safe distance and a clear room to run, she decided to move. She sighed and came out her hiding place. Only to freeze when another mare crept forward. She had been so interested by the stag she had let all of her defenses down. Making up her mind Zella carefully she walked forwards making herself known and stood about 7 meters away from the stag. Giving him and the other hidden mare distance, and of course the chosen room to run if she needed to. Zella may be huge, but she was fast. Really fast. It was a trait from both her parents. Long legs with the power and strength to run. After all these years of wondering Zella had built up a great stamina. Her eyes gazed out on the dark waters, the stormy grey clouds reflected on the surface. Her imaginative mind thought of the water on a sunny day, she smiled...yeah, the water then would be nice. Her eyes turned back and surveyed the stag again, he had to be aware of the two new presences. She tossed her mane again and glanced over at them. She guessed the stag and herself were around the same age, herself being 5 years old. New to the world but wise she liked to think of herself. Pretending to ignore the stag and the mare she flounced up to the shore and stood with her ankles in the freezing water. ---------- Words: 764 Modified to add in Rasta ^^

The sea was all powerful, unquestionable, the end of his longing and the end of his searching. There was nowhere left to go, yet in all its incarnations it astounded him. It didn't matter the day, it was consistent, powerful, and a source of life, even if it didn't provide directly to him. He wasn't there yet though. He could glimpse it through the trees, but he wasn't ready to admit it was over. If only he'd known that just as he watched it, mesmerized, four eyes watched him, from two mares equally wary, and equally curious. Of course, interactions with mares could only take him so far. As far as he was concerned, the most important thing now was the task at hand. Accepting the end was near, and to greet it as an old friend. Of course, when a mare came bumbling in, stared at him, then pranced off to go play in the surf, he didn't really make much of it. She had stared at him, he had looked at her, and she had gauged him as not worth her time. Big deal. Honestly, you write me like I've no feelings or no interest in mares. Honestamente. Big deal. You haven't made any move to go chase her. Who says she's alone? A fair point. The stag warily searched the trees. He had no claim to this land and no desire to go provoking a fight. He sighed. Journey was at its end, and as uninterested as company seemed, it was there. He moved out of the clearing and down towards the shore. Forgetting something are we? Not anything I know of. Oh the joys of being omniscient. You'll see. During his move, he glanced sideways at a shadow, just close enough to see something abnormal. It was horse shaped, but being cast by a tree. See boy? She did have friends. Lovely.
He stalled, decisions on who to take up conversation with first drifting through his mind. Perhaps the one in the open, who while not saying anything, for she had not hidden. But no, she'd shone no interest. This one was in a shadow, but clearly watching him. "You can come out you know, most of my fan club doesn't find it necessary to hid in the bushes. Ranters and Ravers call me Taj. You are?" Bold words boy. Too brash, to bold, and all too amusing. How many times must I tell you to shut up?

Resounding Memories;;Rasta[/sup] I learned to live half alive, and now you want me one more time Rasta shrugged, slowly pushing her body out from the shadows of the trees. Ah, so there was no need to hide, apparently. Well, at least according to this stag. She shifted her gaze slightly towards the other mare now bounding around in the water, flicking her ears back slightly in distaste. Did that mare not realize the dangers which the waters showed to everyone near their grasp. Oh well, either way that mare would find out sooner or later. "You can come out you know, most of my fan club doesn't find it necessary to hid in the bushes. Ranters and Ravers call me Taj. You are?" He said, almost a little to cockily. She shook her head in amusement, moving off a bit to the side and circling him quietly. "A bit cocky now, aren't we?" she said with a tiny grin, dropping her muzzle slightly in greeting. "Well, Taj, I do hope your fan club doesn't mind that I enjoy hiding in the shadows. Ecspecially in dreary weather such as this." she replied, wincing as each drop of rain dug into her pelt and sent a shiver down her spine. "I am dawned the name of Resounding Memories. But, due to the length I allow everyone to call me Rasta." she finished, before stepping back slowly under the cover of the trees, leaving her head out only, still shaking each time the rain pelted her forehead, now pinning her ears in annoyance at this stupid weather as she dug her flints into the ground, stabalizing the ground around her so that she could at least feel what was truly happening.

Gazella
A mare for thinking and wondering Zella wondered why the other mare was staring at her with such distaste. She hadn't done anything wrong...sure she'd shown a little interest in the stag, but she hadn't made any moves. She'd kept her distance, playing in the surf. Then again, they could be mates. The water was cold and as Zella splashed in it her teeth chattered. She was only playing as an excuse to eavesdrop on any conversation that could take place. Sure enough the stag began to speak. ”You can come out you know, most of my fan club doesn't find it necessary to hid in the bushes. Ranters and Ravers call me Taj. You are?" Zella resisted the urge to snort at the his boldness. She moved closer still, doing her best to stick to the shadow waters edge. It was a strong current and freezing after all. The mare replied quietly with something that Zella missed. She edged closer. ”I am dawned the name of Resounding Memories. But, due to the length I allow everyone to call me Rasta." Rasta...that sounded familiar. Maybe she was a leader or some hot shot. Zella shrugged the thought from her mind and left the water. She now openly stared at the two horses. Taj standing in the rain like herself and Rasta seeking shelter under the leaves of the trees. "Not a fan of the rain, I see." Zella grinned and stood next to the stag. She studied the other mare however the rain blurred her vision every now and then, which made it difficult to get a clear vision of the mare. Shivering slightly she introduced herself. ”I'm Gazella, but everybody calls me Zella.” She offered a smile to both Taj and Rasta. Taking a deep breath she cleared her mind and waited for a reply from either equine, her bright blue eyes betrayed nothing but silence. However she was excited to have come across new equines. It was nice to know she wasn't alone on this earth. ---------- Words: 335

The rain was unrelenting, stinging when it hit the pelt, but deadly beautiful. The whole scene was beautiful, so you've said. Some things were made to be stressed. His company seemed less fond of the weather, ducking out of it whenever the opportunity presented itself. "A bit cocky now, aren't we?Well, Taj, I do hope your fan club doesn't mind that I enjoy hiding in the shadows. Ecspecially in dreary weather such as this. " He could have laughed. Not only had he pegged her on the dot, but he found this weather to be glourious. She'd also managed to space herself out from his fan club comment, though with a build and bodice like his, who could blame him for assuming he had fan girls? There's some advantages to being sexy. You're full of yourself boy. I'm waiting for her to slap you. You just wait. Gametime? Play ball. He could be jovial if it meant winning hearts. He may not have been the bad boy, but he could play the role if it won hearts. Such a little loverboy. Shaddap. Whatever you say. "I am dawned the name of Resounding Memories. But, due to the length I allow everyone to call me Rasta."
She carried herself with poise, regal, making every statement as if it required her permission. "While I'm charmed Rasta, your full name is also as beautiful as you yourself are." What happened to the boy who wanted the love of a home? You meet people and situations change. I'm not allowed to flirt with a pretty mare? Oh lord here we go....
He half jumped out of his skin when he heard another voice crop up beside him. "Not a fan of the rain, I see. I'm Gazella, but everybody calls me Zella." It was the mare that had darted past to go splash in the waves, apparently not above company after all. Mares. Never will I understand what goes on in their heads. Still, he was gracious, and he was a, to go with the rap phrasing, a boss. He took a deep breath and continued on. The situation was normal, and honestly, he had no reason to be getting ansy. "Truly, it's a pleasure to meet you both. What brings you out and about in this fine summer storm? "

Resounding Memories;;Rasta[/sup] Under haunted skies I see you where love is lost your ghost is found Rasta ducked her head quietly in greeting to the other mare. "I find the rain to be quite annoying. And if it weren't for the life it provided I would wish for it to disappear..." she said in response to the mare's statement. No. Of course she didn't like the rain. The rain made her agitated and confused. The thunder that came along with it caused her to lose her surroundings and all of her senses were dulled because of the water that had the murky rain scent. "While I'm charmed Rasta, your full name is also as beautiful as you yourself are." he spoke and she dropped her maw in embarrassment, her blush if it were possible for an equine to blush. "Why thank you," she said quietly, pulling her head back into the shadows as the rain began to dig into her skin on her face causing a bit of pain. After a few minutes of rest from the constant pounding she pulled her head out again, cocking it lightly at the other mare. She still didn't quite understand why that mare insisted on going to the water and messing around when it could so easily grow arms and pull her down under not allowing her back up for air and drowning her. And oh yes. It would drown her. That's how water works and that's how it always will

The ability to appreciate the world around you is a talent too far overlooked, though the value the world holds is no secret. Taj thought he was rather fond of this rugged watery place, the sweet wonderful cleanliness of it, the way each breath he drew in felt purer than the last. "I find the rain to be quite annoying. And if it weren't for the life it provided I would wish for it to disappear..." Taj smiled. So few were fans of the beautiful thing, but she was right, the life it brought was powerful enough to appreciate it whether one was fond of it or not. She was unique, quite obviously, this Rasta, and he was already fond of the peculiarity of her behavior. Not that it was a good thing, how quickly he became attached to people. He supposed it was just because he cared, about every single person he met, and whether or not they were happy. He couldn't fix the world, but who was anyone to say he couldn't try? "Why thank you," was all he got though, when he complimented her as lover boys will do. It was amusing though, to watch blood flush her face in obvious embarrassment. Putting people on the spot, that was fun too, though perhaps not something he should so enjoy.
The other mare had wandered off somewhere, between the last sentence and now, and he had hardly notice her vanish. Perhaps she was off to play in the water again, for she had seemed an odd and potentially flighty creature. Though he longed to stand knee deep in the water and allow his journey to rush from his head and out through his feet, he had to let the little stepping stones finish their own course, and he was certain the conversation with Rasta was one of them. "Have you any idea where I might inquire to a head of state here, perhaps about filing whatever paperwork it takes to take up a permanent residence here? I think I should rather like to stay here if all goes well. It feels so clean. " Odd, odd statements. His head was awarding him a silent round of applause for pointless word use, but at least he was not so yet flush as she. "And then perhaps play 120 questions or the like, so that one might get to know the other. I'm a fan of extraneous detail you see, and as people consider it too much to just hand out with a regular sentence, I usually go about collecting it more carefully. " So perhaps it's a bit more obvious why he'd be useful now? Extraneous detail- a little to often not so extraneous.

"State of head? If you mean Alpha by that you are speaking to her," she said quietly, flicking her tail in annoyance at the brush around her as the rain continued to dot in and out. "As for paperwork I find it quite hassled so I got rid of it a long time ago. Just be perpared to help if something goes ary. I dont fully trust those Alpha Stags," she explained, dropping her maw down a little and sipping the liquid that had pooled onto a leaf. "120 questions sounds just fine by me.
