The mare nickered as her eyes opened, the sound barely audiable. She twisted her head and he remained quiet, not sure if she was going to respond to any of his questions. Not sure she had even heard him. The small bird crouched on her shoulder, then sprung into the air ad flittered away. She then tried to to turn, immediately protesting with a pained sound. He winced and took a step forward as she settled onto the ground again. Her heart was beating fast, he could see her sides move up and down in tune with her breaths. At least she wasn't having any trouble that he could see, it just hurt to move. "Is the pain bearable at all?" he asked softly, watching her carefully. He could tell it obviously pained her greatly, but what else was he supposed to do? She had to move and let him see the injury, to judge how bad it was. He wasn't going to just bond some stranger to him because she was in so much pain she couldn't move, but the wound would have been fine in a few hours. He didn't even know what she had landed on. A sharp rock? A piece of wood? And how big was the object and the wound itself? He didn't know anything other than it hurt.
Karuk brushed her shoulder absentmindedly, a comforting gesture. "I need to be able to see the wound so we can figure out what we should do next," he said, looking her in the eye. Kilton screeched, gliding over and perching on Karuk's shoulder' more comfortable there than up in the trees. The light was beginning to fade, the sun slipping down behind the trees and sheding harsh yellow and orange light across the lands. Each day got shorter the further they got into autumn and the closer they got to the cold days and nights of winter also. He took a quick glance at the sky, knowing he didn't have much time to see what was wrong if she didn't move soon. It would be dark and they would be helpless until sunrise the next morning. He looked back down at the mare, who's name he still didn't know. Kilton shook, pulling his wings up close to his body and ducking his head down to keep himself warm as a sharp breeze wafted across the water and rustled the trees. He sighed, his breath slightly visible as it exited his lips. "It's getting late," he said, ears listening intently to the sounds of the forest. After seeing those wolves a couple of days ago he'd been extra alert during the evening. "Here, I'll try my best to help you." He stepped to the side, walking around to her back once again. "We just need to get you upright at the least, so you aren't on your side. One your feet might be a little ambitious." He smiled at her, Kilton causually hopping off his back and to the ground by his feet. "Hopefully it will only hurt for a moment, and then the pain should subside once you stop moving. If not... I'll try my best to fix it, okay?" he asked, his face serious and no longer smiling. He waited for her to say something, whether it was to try and move her, or that she wasn't going to cooperate, he wasn't sure. Hopefully she would let him help her, and while he had the chance.

Shika heard the soft voice of the stallion close by "Is the pain bearable at all?" No, no the pain was not bearable at all, but she had to think other wise. Her voice cracked as she spoke "Not really" she chocked on the word, finding it hard to concentrate on anything but the pain in her side. Luckily she wasn't finding it painful to breath, she must have landed on something in the right place, either not close to her lungs, or it wasn't really as bad as she though it to be. She breathed heavily finding it hard to speak also. she suddenly felt the warmth of his nose brush along her shoulder, causing her to twitch under his touch. No one had ever really helped her before, not when she was this badly hurt. She was always caring for herself. Soon his soft words brushed over her "I need to be able to see the wound so we can figure out what we should do next," She watched him carefully, though not out of intrust, but just so she knew she wasn't alone, that someone was here to help her. The sun began to settle lower in the sky. "I will try my best to help you" This time her words came out more clear, her breathing had begun to slow itself to a more steady pace. A cool breeze picked up through the trees, swirling over her, she could feel the energy coming from the nature around her, they were also trying to help. She shuddered under the cold chill. The sun was growing further from the earth, causing the days to become more cold. Autumn., was here.
The stag spoke to her again though it also seemed to be addressed to himself also, like a mental note."It's getting late," She moved her head up and down, the pebbles clunked together as they moved with her large cranium. "Here, I'll try my best to help you." He spoke once more, though this time he moved, she lifter her head to watch him, nickering to him gently. "We just need to get you upright at the least, so you aren't on your side. On your feet might be a little ambitious." she couldn't see him any more, now that he was by her back. She was just about to ask him something, but his gentle voice cut in. "Hopefully it will only hurt for a moment, and then the pain should subside once you stop moving. If not... I'll try my best to fix it, okay?" she felt odd not being able to see his face while she was speaking to him. "I'll try my best, but i cant promise anything, it hurts when i move, a lot, i think i have something implied into my skin a little ways" she moved her head and neck round so they were not laying on the cold stones. taking it step by step was easy, she could endure the pain more and wait for it to subside a little and then move again. This time she pulled her legs up to her chest, this didn't cause he too much pain really, though what she was about to do next would be the worse pain she would feel. Shika dear hoped he was right. She slowly began to role over, ignore the little needle sharp pains that began at first, but the further she rolled off her side, the deeper the pain became. She whimpered closing her eyes. She quickly rolled onto her chest then ended up rolling to her other, uninjured side, she was panting heavily. Though he was right, it was only a sudden burst of pain, the worse of it was gone, but some still lingered. Though what she felt most was the warm liquid trailing down her pelt and onto the stones. Moving was possibly not the best idea, a large piece of bog wood with a sharp end had jammed its way into her side, a small puncture wound was all it would have done, if it had not been stuck under the large rocks, when she moved the wood had sliced a further cut down her side. Blood welled at its edges, gathering in the middle, then slowly trickled down her pelt. The puncture was pretty deep, muscle was showing through, the cut started just as deep but thinned out as it moved downwards. Another nice scar to add to her collection of one.

She started to twist over, starting off slow but then moving quickly so the pain would go away faster. He stepped back and out of her way, then stepped forward once she lay on her other side. Blood trailed down her side and onto the rocks she lay on, staining them. He sighed when he saw what was causing the pain. A large peice of driftwood was lodged in her side, each breath she took tugging at it and causing more blood to well out. He could see tendons showing through, the wood having sliced deep enough to reach more important organs but missing them, thankfully. Looking at the wood, he knew they needed to remove it, but doing so would cause the blood to flow freely and she could bleed out and die. But leaving it in would only cause infection and it wouldn't heal. He really didn't have a choice. He glanced at her face and then back at the wound. He closed his eyes, turning towards her and opening them, looking at her again. "I'm going to have to take the wood out of your side before I can do anything," he grimaced, "It will only hurt for a moment, but it will hurt a lot. Do you think you can handle it, or should I fifure something else out?" He didn't want to hurt her, but he had no other choice if he were to help her. There was no way he could heal her with the log in her side, the flesh would just mend around it and it wouldn't actually do any good. He stood patiently, waiting for her to answer. It was a lot to ask, to endure that pain, but what else could he do? The sun was setting, the last little bit of light slipping away and leaving them in the eerie half-lit dusk. The wind blew again, his eyes closing and his body shuddering involuntarily at the sudden cold. At least if he got the wood out she would be able to get up and they could find shelter. His eyes squinted open, his form huddling as his mane whipped in the air. He needed an answer fast so he could decide what to do. He wasn't just going to act without her permission; she had to give him the okay.

Shika looked at him, not wanting to see the pain she could feel in her side. If she looked at it it would make the pain worse. The stag spoke careful words to her, cleanly knowing what he was doing. "I'm going to have to take the wood out of your side before I can do anything," "It will only hurt for a moment, but it will hurt a lot. Do you think you can handle it, or should I fifure something else out?" She gulped back her fear. She was going to be alright, thats all that mattered. This stag did know what he was doing, she'd be safe in his hooves. wait! what if i can walk, it would be better, i don't want to leave a trail, the wolfs would find it and hunt us out. I have to walk back to safety, enough blood has been spilled here already Shika slowly began to move. Though the pain shot through her again. Biting back on her lip she ignored it, pulling at it even more as she moved. She could feel it as it tugged on her skin with every move. As long as she could ignore the pain its not like it was jammed into her leg, they were fine she would walk. Just the thing sticking in her side was causing too much pain to even want to move. Though Shika was not one to do nothing about it, she would fight against this feeling and overcome it. Shika was soon back up to standing. The pain soon turned into numbness. Turning to the stag she spoke rather cheerful "Okays, i can walk, no problem, you need to lead the way, thats if you'd still want to help me? She slowly moved across the stones, this time watching her hoove placement and making sure each one was held strong before she put her large weight upon them. Some shifted slightly under the pressure, but mainly held their ground. Making her way across the stones and to the beginning of the trees, now out of the way from falling on the rocks again, and possibly not able to get back up. Though thats not the way she would think, Shika always would pull through no matter how bad of state she were in. She turned back as she reached the trees. Are you coming..? She spoke to the stag, slightly flirtatious, with a flick of her tail.

"Wait! What if I can walk, it would be better, I don't want to leave a trail, the wolfs would find it and hunt us out. I have to walk back to safety, enough blood has been spilled here already."
She began to twist, trying to rise to her feet. He stepped closer, concern spreading across his face. She didn't need to stand. Though, she didn't know of his abilities either. He started to protest as he saw her hold back sounds of pain. "Wait..You don't have.." he stopped though, once she was actually on her feet. He took a short step back, giving her some room but staying close enough to catch her if she fell. He watched her carefully, looking for any signs of unsteadyness. She turned to look at him, "Okays, I can walk, no problem, you need to lead the way, thats if you'd still want to help me?" she said, her voice cheerful and void of the pain she was surely feeling. She started to walk forward, and he quickly moved forward too, not wanting her to get too far ahead and then falling without him there. At least she was up and moving, though if she fell again, he wasn't sure if she would get back up without his help. He was moving slowly, watching as her hooves skimmed the rocks and as she put weight on the unstable ground. He found himself pausing as the rocks would shift, qincing slightly and waiting to see if she would keep walking or loose her balance. Once she reached the trees, she turned back to him. "Are you coming..?" she asked with a flick of her tail. His head pulled up and a look of confusion crossed his face. She was flirting with him..now? He couldn't help but smile back, easily moving forward and catching up with her. Kilton casually hopped from rock to rock, his wings spread to help keep his own balance. He then took to the sky, flying ahead of the pair and into the trees, his eyes scanning the shadows for dangers. The sun had set and now the wolves would be lurking.
Karuk stayed next to the mare, his ears alert as well. He didn't know if there were any paks nearby, but he wasn't going to just assume there wasn't. At least they were moving, and she wasn't laying on the ground helpless. That was something. "I'm Karuk," he said, realizing that he sisn't know her name, or she his. He hadn't had the chance to properly introduce himself in the midst of the chaos that had followed their meeting. He couldn't help but laugh softly, finding it strange to be telling her his name after all that had happened. It was strange that they had barely met. It felt like a lifetime had passed.

Shika gently smiled as he followed close by her side. Possibly worried she might fall again. He stood pretty close to her, she could feel the warmth radiating of him. She felt safe in his presence, there was just something about him that kept and eerie calm. She was just about to take a step forward, feeling slightly of balance from standing still for too long, when he spoke to her. "I'm Karuk," She stopped mid step. He had just introduced himself, something no one had done to her in a long time. She felt a warmth run through her. "Its nice to finally know your name" she spoke slowly, kind of shocked. This was a first for her, Shika always had something to say. "Oh...And im Shika by the way" she smiled remembering she also hadn't told her his name. if felt good to tell someone her name. She had wondered lonely for a long time. Her only friend being the bird, Akiiki. It was rare for her to befriend another equine. she glanced over at Karuk "thank you for helping me" she spoked gently almost inaudible.
Shika began wlaking forward, though she had no real idea where they were headed. She had to keep moving though or she might possibly fall down again. "so where we headed then?"

"It's nice to finally know your name," she replied, speaking slowly as if she didn't know what to say. He focused on their footsteps, waiting to learn hers a well. "Oh...And I'm Shika, by the way," she said, and he silently repeated the name in his head, remembering it. "Thank you for helping me," she said, and he lifted his head, looking at her. "Of course, Shika," he said. He didn't need a thank you, though. He liked to help others. It was why he had accepted the abilities he had. Helping others was something he felt he was supposed to do. He had spent some time during the war doing nothing but hurting others, and he couldn't stand it. There was always so much hate in the world and he just wanted to spread the light. There was so much more to life than land and power.
He was pulled from his thoughts as Shika spoke again, "So, where we headed then?" she asked as they continued to slowly walk forward. He sighed, eyes scanning the trees. "I'm not completely sure, actually." he said, not really familiar with the territory they were in. "How bad does your side hurt?" he asked, not knowing how far they were going to have to walk, or if it would be best to stop and heal her, and then move on in the morning? It was late and if they just kept walking, they were going to get tired. If they stopped and he was able to pull the wood out of her side and heal her, they wouldn’t have to worry about the smell of blood. But he would be exhausted and have no other choice but to sleep afterward. They couldn’t stop just anywhere, out in the open or in the middle of the forest. Who knew what inhabited these woods? He continued to walk forward, thinking about what to do next and waiting for her reply.

"I'm not completely sure, actually." Karuk spoke, replying to her question. She shot her glance up to him. He didn't know? why wouldn't he know where they were going, he was supposed to be helping her. So he obviously didn't have a plan, great. she watched her hooves as they moved onwards. Karuk's voice soon filled the air. "How bad does your side hurt? she glanced sideways at him, unsure of his question, Though she answered him truthfully. "well now you ask about it, it kind of hurt's, though if i forget about it, its like its not even there, So i guess it just depends. If your worried about me not being able to make it far, you'd be surprised. I have been a lone walker for a long time now, and have managed to keep myself alive for now. Im stronger than i look and appear. " she listened carefully as they made their way through the trees. The further they traveled the thicker the shrubs became. she could sense something lingering in the air between then, like Karuk was not telling her all that was to be. she glanced at him, then back to the ground again. arguing with herself to wether she should confront him or not.
They had wondered pretty far now, darkness fallen all around them. The trees did not help with this either. There branches and unfallen leaves designed a barricade to the sky, with only a few little loopholes. Shika began coughing, it sounded wet and morbid. The fae stopped to try and clear her throat, though it only made things worse. she coughed and spluttered until it managed to clear the blockage. she coughed up some mucus, though along with it came a fresh smell of an irony substance. Blood "Im okay dont worry" she spoke softly pretty much inaudible to inadequate ears. shika started to move again, her head began to spin causing her to wobble on her legs, swaying side to side.

"Well now you ask about it, it kind of hurts, though if I forget about it, its like its not even there, So I guess it just depends. If your worried about me not being able to make it far, you'd be surprised. I have been a lone walker for a long time now, and have managed to keep myself alive for now. I'm stronger than I look and appear. "
A smile played at his lips as she finished her comment. He hadn't been implying that she couldn't make it, he was just worried about how much pain she was in. He didn't want to prolong it if he could do something about it. And he could tell that she could hold her own, no matter how clumbsy she had been since he met her. "I'm sorry to have offended you," he said, turning his head to look at her while they walked. "I did not mean to imply that you are not strong. I can tell that you are." he smiled at her, turning his head back to watch the ground in front of him. He knew she must be a little worried, since he had admitted that he had no idea where they were going. Though, they wouldn't get lost because he had Kilton. The bird would make sure they knew which way to go.
As he thought about it, the eagle slowly came back towards them, appearing out of the darkness. He screeched softly, pausing in flight and then carefully desending onto his perch. He gestured forward, squawking and clawing at Karuk's skin. Karuk twisted his head back, staring at the creature as he promptly stopped and pulling himself up, staring back. He wasn't afraid of anything, so it must mean that he had found something. The stag then turned his head back around, continuing to walk forward. He turned to Shika, opening his mouth to speak, but then she started to cough. He immediately stopped, listening as she continued to heave, coughing something up. The smell hit him and he winced. "I'm okay, don't worry," she assured him, her voice faint. He shook his head. "No, you're not." he said forcefully, stepping closer to her as she began to sway to the side. Kilton leaped off of Karuk's withers, screeching again and flying forward. Karuk huffed, glaring at the bird for a moment. He better have found some place good.
"Come on, I think he's found something." he said, gently nudging the mare. Hopefully it wasn't far. His shoulder was pressed against hers, offering some support so that she wouldn't fall to the ground. They walked forward, the eagle leading the way. The trees opened up into a small cove, water trickling into the little pond from a tributary. Kilton was settled on a rock, his head and wings pulled in for warmth. Karuk sighed softly, his hooves sinking into the soft sand. He stopped, Shika leaning heavily against him now. He carefully took a step away from her, though still staying close to keep her from collapsing to the ground. "Here," he said, motioning to the ground, "Lay down." He watched carefully and she slowly lowered herself to the sandy ground, stepping closer when it seemed she would loose her balance and drop onto the unforgiving floor. He could tell that her breathing was slightly labored, and putting the earlier coughing into the equation, the wood might have struck her lungs as he had feared. The organ was taking on blood, and then forcing it out of her respiratory system; causing her to cough it out.
He walked around to her other side as she slowly turned, laying on her good side. He watched her breathe, the reddened flesh pulling at the wood and causing her obvious pain. He needed to get the object out of her side, and then he would heal her. If he didn't, she wasn't going to be able to heal it herself. Her body would bleed out. He looked at her face, taking a deep breath and murmuring a quick, "I'm sorry," for the pain he was about to put her through. He stepped closer, slowly sinking his teeth into the driftwood and pulling it free of her side. It made a wet sucking sound and he dropped the wood, quickly moving forward as the blood began to well up. He called on that untouched part of him, pulling it forward. He had never done this before, but instinct took over and it was as if he suddenly knew exactly what to do. He carefully touched his muzzle to her skin, beside the wound. A blue spark illuminated the air and the flesh began to mend back together. The splinters that were left behind quickly disolved, the normal bodily chemicals disposing of the threat.
His eyes were closed, though the cracks where his lids met shone with a blueish white light, as did the spot he was touching. The light highlighted his features and colored his face blue as the wound began to heal. First the lung tissues were rebuilt, the cells reproducing rapidly and closing the hole the wood had created. Then the surrounding tissues, and a few small cracks in her ribs where the rocks and wood had hit her. Then the muscles pulled accross, providing more protection of her life source. Lastly, the skin started to reach over the wound, pulling and stretching across and leaving a small, faint scar as the only sign anything had ever happened. He slowly broke contact with her pelt, taking a step back and gathering his breath. His heart was beating fast and he was covered in a layer of sweat. He slowly opened his eyes, his chest heaving up and down, his stomach moving in and out; his nostrils flared. It felt as if he had ripped a part of himself and used it to mend her; which he supposed he had, but it was such a strange feeling. He closed his eyes again, taking a few large and deep breaths, trying to calm himself. He turned, taking a step forward and opening his eyes. He stopped, wincing and forcing himself to lay on the ground. He turned onto his side, letting his head fall to the ground as he sighed slowly. His eyes twisted to the side, looking at Shika. She was only a few feet away, her hide unmarked and her breathing stable. He couldn't tell if she was still awake, though sleep was slowly creeping up on him. His eyes slowly slid shut and his breathing began to level out. He could let himself relax now. He had been able to help the mare, she was going to be perfectly fine. All he needed to do now was rest, his energy drained with the effort. He let out another sigh as he transitioned into his subconscious, his breathing slowing to a small inhale and exhale as his body stablilized and returned to normal.
// 1116 words he healed her. :B and now he's tired. idk if she would go to sleep too...or if she suddenly have a whole bunch of energy, or if she'd just be the same as before. xD I'm kind of just making this up as I go, since there isn't a strict way they heal. *shrug* and i powerplayed just a tad, i hope thats okay. :B we would have neverrrr gotten to this part if I hadn't. xDD

Shika slowly swayed on her feet, the pain no longer being able to subside itself. Karuk spoke, knowing she wasnt fine at all. "No, you're not." Shika tended to try and hide the pain she was going through, hide it beihind the happiness she always felt. She could hear the drys of his bird companion, though they began to sound distant. Her vision became blurred around the edges. The pain was beginning to take over. So strong it could criple. She heard some muffled tones from the Stag she gussed, unsure really, but it went something like this "Come on, I think he's found something." She nodded and made an incoherent noise. She felt the warmth of another along her back, nudging her forward, then the press of something against her shoulder. Sje slowly looked over at the stag, who now was pressed against her, taking on most of her weight. She felt bad for placing it all upon him at once, she wasnt the smallest of mares, though there wasnt much difference in their hieght, she could have a good few pounds of weight against him. She used him as support as they waked forward, seeming to follow this strange bird, creature. He seemed very loyal to Karuk, serving his aids. They soon came to a small cove, the gentle trickling of water, swept a calm over her. They soon came to a halt, the soft feel of sand under hoove as they did so. Intoxicated from the pain, the place seemed to glow, like a thousand little glowflie edged each and evry plant and rock. She glanced at the satg, feeling a little confused, but strangly content. "Here," The stag spoke "Lay down." She slowly lowered herself as best she could, then dropped to the soft underlay. She moved onto her good side, not being able to lay the other side. Soft footballs resounded from behind her, then words filled the air. Something that was not ecpected happened after the stag had spoken "I'm sorry," His words went round and round in her mind, and just like that it all happened too fast. One momnet she was feeling just fine, then a sudden burst of pain shot through her like a dart. She squealed, though it suddenly resounded. Light. A blue light spark up out of nowhere. She tried to move, but felt a presure pushing her down, keping her still. The surge ran though her body, her pain slowly resided to nothingness. Her head began to clear. YThe light dimmed and everything was back to normal. No glowing places, no blue light. Nothing but the little cove they lay. the Stag, Karuk lay close by, slowly drifting to a sleep, tiredness taking over him once more. She placed her muzzel close to his gently touching him as she too slowly drifted to sleep, not aware she had been healed, just that the pain was gone and she could now relax, and go into a peaceful bliss called sleep.
The soft light rose over the horizen, golden light flodding through the tress and into the lids of Shika's eyes. She streched at the signal that morning had arrived once more. She opened her eyes, finally able to see the pristine little cove they had managed to make camp. Now thingking about the other day. she rememebered that she had began coughing, not in a good way either, though after that it was pretty much a blur to her. Remebering she had the cut in her side, she glanced over checking to see how its was looking. However getting a small surprise, where it had been, or rather where she had remember it had been, now sat a small pink little scar, nothing to show she had just had a piece of driftwood stinking into her side. She didnt even feel the pain of brusing that shoudl be there. Nothing. It was like she had been kissed by an angel. She glanced to her side, noticing the stag was still at her side. Smiling gently she pulled at his mane, then gently nudged him behind his ear. Waiting she lowered her muzzel to the soft sand, her nostrils falred as she breathed in deeply, wathcing him closely to see if he stired.
