The fog seemed to be beginning to thin itself, not nearly as comparable to pea soup as it had been previously. More shafts of light were beginning to snake their way through the leafy boughs, a sure sign that the gold garbed celestial body was being carried higher into the atmosphere as if upon some chariot. At nearly the exact moment that her response fell upon him, he began working forth, complying to his eager muscular system's desires. Heavy hooves came down, each timed perfectly as he tread across the terra firma, the Shire's skull turning to the side as he spoke over his shoulder. "Not a one." he responded. His simple purpose in life seemed to be simply to wander for all of eternity, a spirit condemned to repeat the stages of hell. He shuffled a few strides before speaking to her once more, though his eyes were intent on the surroundings, backed up by his sonars. The only indication that he was paying any attention to her was a single ear swiveled in her direction, twitching with each slight noise. "Did you?" he pondered out loud. Heavy foot fell upon a small limb, snapping it as he stepped upon it just right. Tou hesitated, that sole foot rising as he listened about before carefully stepping above it, blatantly overstretching his strides to avoid crushing it with any of his other three hooves.
The boy's overcautious, yet craft imagination began to pick out various shapes in the swirling fug, catching the equine off guard with each silhouette that he found. Muscles squeezed his rib cage, forcing out a gust f air through his nasal passage, a snort erupting with his muzzle as he shook his head, trying to internally talk himself into a calmer state. His breathing had near returned to normal by now, though his heart rate was still slightly escalated, each movement of shadows or haze causing it to beat just a little quicker, needlessly forcing small bursts of adrenaline into his bloodstream.

Seraph could tell that her newly found companion was ready to leave. He was looking at her intently, ears perked. Before the words were hardly out of her mouth, he was already moving off. Slightly unsure of what to do, Seraph followed in his massive wake. "Not a one," he said, his head swivling to face her. She was confused a moment before remembering her previous question. "Did you?" He added. Seraph's first reaction was surpise at learning that his wanderings were apparently aimless. Why? Was he running from something or was the wander-lust just strong in him? Of course, she too had no confirmed destination either. "While I wouldn't quite consider myself a nomad, I don't exactly have a destination in mind. Actually, not at all. I suppose it is just a matter of chosing a part of Forma Silvestris to confine my meanderings to. Ultimately, I hope to find a permanant home, but right now I simply search for a general place I can call my homeland." The ever inquisitive Seraph couldn't help but add, "If I may be so bold, what is your incentive for such...hurried wanderings?" She had the decency to blush a bit after her question, but didn't regret it. If she was to travel for a time with this Shire, she wanted to unveil at least some of the mysteries surrounding him. ............... Sorry, not terribly detailed. I want to go to bed. xD

The Shire was rather intrigued that an equine such as herself was somewhat of a wanderer as well. He nodded in acknowledgment, letting her know that he was in fact listening and not just mindlessly tearing his way through the forest. As she finished speaking, the behemoth waited an appropriate moment or two of near silence before going to talk. His jaw was slightly agape, yet he found that he had no words as to why he wandered as he did. Maw closed, the ungulate swishing his flowing tail as he thought. Finally, his words spilled forth. That's honestly a good question. he spoke, ears twitching lightly. I guess it's just ... an idiosyncrasy of mine. He admitted. He eased his pace a bit to match that of the girl's, preferring to converse at her side opposed to having to continuously strain his neck to speak to her. [/blockquote] ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ugh, sorry, muse is shot.

His pause was genuine, Seraph was sure. In fact, he seemed to be pondering the question, not attempting to conjure up the appropriate response, but to sort out in his mind the reason for his wanderings. His reply was not what she had expected. She believed he was telling the truth, but still was not satisfied by his answer. She had seen clearly enough the exhaustion written all over him the when she had first come upon him. His rapidly expanding and collapsing sides. The weary shaking and buckle of his massive legs, though he had fought hard against their tremors. Why? Looking behind her, almost furtively, Seraph could still see the path he had broken through the forest. He had obviously swerved for nothing. As much as she wished to question further, her natural sense of tact and etiquette prevented the mare from any other queries. Besides, she was finding herself to be enjoying his company and did not wish to sully it. Realizing that she had not replied to his statement, though no answer was necessarily needed, Seraph wished to keep the conversation going. "Wandering can be pleasant. While I'm more of the sort who likes to settle down, I have been enjoying traversing Forma Silvestris." After a moment she added, "Shall we head towards the meadow? I hear tell it has superb grazing." She appreciated the fact that he had slowed down for her, though was slightly amused by the fact. She could go at the same steady, flowing pace of hers for hours. And of course she simply loved to run at full tilt, hurtling herself across the land.

As they gradually progressed across the terrain, the brute grew more and more interested in what this mare had to say. Her ways of thinking seemed to be contrasting to his in some aspects, yet so alike in others. It simply intrigued him, her all around persona. His keens harks were constantly intent upon what phrases escaped her mouth, at times even completely disregarding his surroundings in order to listen in, though catching himself soon after.
As her most recent audible tunes were heard, the brute's head cocked slightly to the side as he thought of how strange it was, in his opinion, to simply stay in one place. His maw manipulated the vibrations of his vocal cords into words as he responded. I've always found settling down so ... so ... dull. he said, finally coming up with the word. It would seem so strange to continuously see the same trees, the same rocks, the exact same patches of dirt over and over again, each and every single day. he commented, still rather bewildered that others actually could dwell in a particular area. I guess that's another thing that keeps me going; the change of scenery. He added, referring to her previous question as to the reasons for his vagabond life. As he still tried to process such a different aspect of life such as hers, his vox spurred to life once more. And it doesn't matter to me. He retorted, massive shoulders pinching together in a lazed shrug. Feel free to lead the way. he offered, easing his pace ever so slightly to allow her to get ahead of their miniature caravan.

Seraph was pleased by the fact that he seemed to be concentrating on her conversation. She always did her utmost to be sure to listen to others, however the favor was not always returned to her. She lightly hurtled a fallen log in her path, tucking her forelegs beneath her lithe body and easily clearing the small obstacle. Jumping. She loved jumping. After a moment, his head slightly tilted, her companion said, "I've always found settling down so ... so ... dull. It would seem so strange to continuously see the same trees, the same rocks, the exact same patches of dirt over and over again, each and every single day. I guess that's another thing that keeps me going; the change of scenery. A pause and then, "Feel free to lead the way." Seraph was slightly intrigued by his statement. She truly did not understand him, though could appreciate his motives. "I suppose we are all different. I wouldn't mind so much choosing a place that I'd see over and over again so long as it was a place that I could love, that could become almost part of me. I could grow fond of a homeland, not per say, a certain perimeter of area that was mine, but more a certain region that I could call my home," she said. Then she added, almost furtively, "Besides, I hear tell of evil things roaming Forma Silvestris. Especially here in Orientalis, the East Lands. Of course rumors don't keep me out of this region, yet one can almost feel something sinister in the air." Rumors were all that Seraph's apprehensiveness was composed of, that and an inborn sixth sense of hers, but she felt a cold chill threatening to creep up her spine. She moved ahead, nostrils testing the wind for any sign of the meadow. Grass, luscious grass was what her olfactory sense was testing for. Unconsciously, she flicked a platinum tail and arched her neck, the picture of concentration. ............... hmm, should I make her posts white?

Her words made sense to him, making him think over such a statement. Hm, perhaps settling in a place one truly loved did make sense. Well, that could certainly explain why others settled. Her next vocalizations caught his attention, particularly the topic. Evil things? Care to elaborate? He inquired, rather curious as to what could possibly to lurking about such lands as these. The particular part about something within the atmosphere definitely rang true to him, however. He had felt ... insecure in these lands, as if he couldn't let his guard down, no matter what happened. He had originally blamed the dense plot of trees, accompanied by the snaking fog, for his trepidation. However, there seemed to be something more than that. Something more substantial, to say in the least. The Shire performed a quick scan across the horizon, noting little to no change from the last time he had done so. He was a smidgen more alert, the sonar not directed upon the lass working overtime to make up for his distraction. He fell in step at the flank of the fae, presuming she had a bit more knowledge of these lands than he did. He thought he noted a twang of grass upon the zephyr, though he wasn't entirely convinced.

Seraph allowed herself a slight laugh at Tou's comment, though it was something of a nervous laugh. "To tell the truth not really, partly because of the fact that I hardly know more of the matter than you and partly because I feel it seems to be asking for trouble if you speak of the potential trouble at hand. All I really know is that there is something lurking in this area with malicious intent to all who would tresspass." Seraph's last sentance was spoken in an undertone, as though that unknown creature was listening intently for any word spoken against or about it. She liked the fact that the Shire had fallen in step with her, as she disliked those who felt they had to lead the whole time as well as those who couldn't seem to keep pace. "How long have you been wandering like this?" She asked abruptly, then added, "It's only been a couple months for me." .................. =/ Gack sorry, no muse.

Her explanation - or lack thereof - caused the varge's curiosity to spike. However, he refrained from asking anymore questions aloud, simply forming such interrogative sentences within his skull. His blue rimmed orbs searched the encompassing topography once more, poking and prodding over each embroidered segment of the land, before finally returning to look to the one whom he was speaking with. Understood. he said briefly, certainly realizing that some things were simply not meant to be conversed over. The extension to his spinal column flicked slightly at his flanks, before he responded to her next question. Well. For as long as I can remember, to be honest. He spoke, head tilting slightly as he tried to recall. Soon after being abandoned, I engaged in such ways. He explained, not entirely catching that he had revealed a smidgen of his past in such a short phrase. The baron tread more carefully now, shifting over the terrain with little noise from his massive hooves, as if some entity floating upon it instead.

Seraph hoped that she had not spooked her companion, for now, more than ever, he was treading cautiously and scanning every detail of the terrain as each heavy hoof hit the ground. His next words took her by surprise and her head jerked around to look at him, continuing on his way, suddenly appearing unduly calm to her, in light of what she had just heard. "Abandoned!" She cried, her eyes wide with distress. "But why?" Her heart already ached for Tou, the unique but gentle Shire that had befriended her. She was in need of a friend, not necessarily from any trouble in her own life but the simple deficiency of another equine in her life. Hearing his words touched her, and she yearned to comfort him. Her own life had been such a contrast, the only adored filly of two parents who loved her almost as much as they loved each other.
