OSER
He couldn't believe it. Couldn't believe her. No? Is that what she'd screamed? No?
NO!
She took a single step forward, and he saw her lips moving, saw them forming words, but he only heard what made his eyes darken in betrayal and rage.
"...you can't kill him...!"
"...you don't understand..."
"...you can't hurt him...!"
What? His baby bird was defending this loathsome creature?! He'd thought she'd been so innocent, but had it all just been a lie? Song had let this awful stag do what he had?! His vision blurred, shock making him stagger. How could she?
And then the stag, the dirty thing! it moved towards the mare he'd thought he loved and began to caress her beautiful neck just where he had only hours ago. His taunts and laughter flew, buzzing and whining in Oser's ears, and he knew he'd made a new enemy. His enemies were rare, but his hatred for them was strong.
"NO!" he screamed at Song, refusing to speak to It. "No, Song, you do not tell me what I can and can't do, what I can and can't understand! It seems pretty clear to me, Song; it seems pretty clear to me. I understand, Song! I understand that I never meant anything to you! That much is obvious. I understand that you deceived me! You lied to me, Song. You led me on, thinking that I cared about you. I never wanted to hurt you, Song! Never! Obviously, you don't feel the same way." His rage was boiling, ready to overflow, yet he held himself steady. It would die. It didn't matter what Song had said; she couldn't matter to him anymore. Oser looked at her standing there in the snow, so tall and so elegant, next to such a filthy worm of a stag, clearly having made her choice, and he could swear that he felt his heart break. His voice was low, yet clear, as he uttered his final words to her.
"And I thought I loved you."
The was a beat, a pause where the world went still and came into focus for a single moment as his words hit her. And then he exploded. Oser charged towards It furiously, his rage and jealously and hurt pouring into his every step, fueling his burst of energy. He slammed into his side, knocking him to the ground as he pounded into him with his hooves, wanting to beat him senseless, to crush his skull, to rip him apart, to kill. And yet, just as suddenly, something caught him, checked his actions. With a final powerful kick to the Enemy's ribs, he halted, looking down at him. No, he would leave It to live for now. Song deserved him. They deserved each other.
Without looking back, he fled the scene, choking back the ball of emotion that constricted his throat. He had more important things to do. His kingdom was in danger, and he owed them a defense and protection from Ramaskith, who would surely kill them all. Rasta. He had to go to Rasta. He had to go North. Chest heaving, he set his head in that direction, leaving behind all he'd ever loved...and all he'd ever thought he'd loved.
