She was thinking Mr Right I was thinking right now, contemplating over it and over again Raine bobbed her head as Keanu pulled himself up to his feet. "Perhaps we should leave?" he told her. Well, yes, perhaps it would be safer if they did. After all, if they started towards the water, it would be smart for the two of them to wash out their wounds. Otherwise, they would more than likely become infected. But, these other mares were bothering her. And she really wanted to start playing some mindgames with these obnoxious equines. They seemed like the kind that deserved it. Snorting once, she spun on her hindquarters, matching his turn and then began to follow him as he moved off away from them. She would mess with them later, or at least when they came to bother her again. A loud screeching noise reached her ears and she immediately pinned them. This stupid, annoying, good-for-nothing mare needed to learn when to keep her mouth shut. After having walked a few strides out she spun around again, causing her tail to wip in the wind. She trotted the last few steps until she was a few feet away from this annoying mare before pinning her ears and pulling herself up on her hocks. "You. Need. To. Shut. Up." she hissed, rolling her eyes as she clashed her front hooves together. Then, upon landing she snapped out, hoping to catch a bit of this mare's face in her teeth. "You have absolutely no right to be this downright rude to others which you have just met. No. Right. Learn some God-forsaken manners before you dare return in my face." she hissed, before turning on her haunches again and prancing out of the clearning right behind Keanu as they headed off towards a river to clean out their wounds.

Sheba "I was running, just for the feel of running... the ground below me, the wind, the pure joy of it, and I smelt blood, an' I smelt a stallion, and... And oh, oh I hate stallions... He had to have done it, right?" The mare's words played across Sheba's ears, growing increasingly loud and increasingly passionate as she reached the end of her brief explanation. Ah, so that was it. Hatred of stags? Odd, but she could work with that. As long as Song hated something, it wouldn't matter. She could sense that Song’s attention was beginning to drift as she spoke of the war, and her mind began to turn slowly. If Song didn’t know much of the war, what had made her so bitter towards all stags? She could easily imagine resentment at either of the Alpha stags or any of the Warriors for tearing the lands apart, but she seemed not to care for the subject. What then, would give her such fury? She mulled over it as Song continued to scream, eyes lit madly from within. The idea came to her slowly, tickling at the back of her mind as she watched Song’s disgust at how Raine and Keanu were huddled together on the ground, with Raine nuzzling at the stag and comforting him. That must be it! What had no fury like a mare scorned? Perhaps there was a stag in Song’s murky past who had rejected her? Someone who had led her on and then let her down? Sheba struggled with mixed emotions as her mind reeled. Could Song be hurting? Against her instincts, she felt a pang of sympathy, and at the same time, a pang of regret. She herself had been there before, on the other end of the story, she had been the one to lead on then let go, and she had enjoyed it. She reflected upon those stag’s feelings afterwards, and had savored their pain, if they had felt any. She knew that some of those stags had just wanted to use her, and she hadn’t hesitated to play with their feelings before disappearing, but she knew some of them had been decent. She hadn’t cared then, but…well, she certainly didn’t care now, she told herself. She. Didn’t. Care. Life was a game, and she was going to win. Life was there for the taking, and she was going to take all she could from it before it took her from the earth. She snapped out of her thoughts just in time to see Song lunging toward Keanu and Raine, who were, she noticed for the first time, trying to leave without attracting attention. Once again she settled back to watch the argument. Would Song attack again? She stepped forward to see the conflict closer. Suddenly, Raine rushed up, with a sudden burst of anger that Sheba hadn’t seen coming. Was there more to this mare than met the eye? She shifted uneasily, wondering how Song would react. It wouldn’t do to make enemies of anyone here. Song could savage any of them in an instant, and though Sheba wasn’t concerned about escaping her flying hooves, but she wanted to keep that strength on her side. And Raine—her unexpected outburst proved that she wasn’t one to be underestimated either. Finally, Keanu. Well, she didn’t consider the stag a threat in himself, but he seemed to somehow have gained Raine’s protection. So, as she watched what was about to unfold, she reluctantly accepted the fact that they needed to stay together if she wanted any chance of hurting any of them. They irritated each other, and her mood was improving steadily with the tension. And then, there was one other thing. She didn’t want to be alone with Raine and Keanu. They made her uneasy, and the stag reeked with fear. On the other hand, she didn’t fancy being alone with Song either. When they had been speaking one on one, Song seemed to bring out the sympathy in her that she had managed to successfully bury for so long. She shook her head, clearing her mind. No. She couldn’t let herself think that way. She took another step forward, moving slightly between the two angry mares. With cold indifference, she looked at each of them. ”Raine. Song. What good will fighting do? Raine, you’re already injured. And Song, what has Raine done to deserve your fury?”. Turning her head, she gave the slightest glance to Song, hoping to show her that she’d have her chance if she had a little patience. Yes, patience. She’d wait for her chance before she decided to act.

» The crazy mare was talking to Sheba, seeming to go into a rage as the words poured out. Her tone became desperate near the end, hate dripping like water in the air. Keanu shivered, knowing that all of her hate and anger was directed at him. Because why? Because she smelled blood and just assumed it was his fault? He knew all too well that it was, but what if it hadn't been? He guessed he deserved this, punishment for what he had done, but by the way the mare talked and was acting, he didn't think he'd see the end of this 'punishment' anytime soon.
» He turned as she began to speak again, almost yelling. "He HAD to! How could anyone, anything, expect anything less of a filthy beast such as that piece of shit!" she shouted, pounding her hooves into the ground and pivoting to look at he and Raine. She cried out, seeming to grow even angrier if it were even at all possible. His ears pinned back in annoyance and a twinge of fear. He certainly couldn't protect himself against this mare, her murderous rage at the surface and homed in on him. He didn't want Raine to be harmed any more than she already was, and definitely not because of him. There was nothing he could do. If she chose to attack him again, he would go down, and looking at the mare in front of him, he didn't believe he would get back up.
» Raine the twisted and trotted forward, seeming to have had enough of this mare. She pulled herself up and angrily spat words at the mare. Keanu's eyes widened and he took a careful step back, a small but noticeable limp in his step. Raine reached out, her teeth snapping with an audible 'click' as she tried to catch the other mare's skin. She continued to speak, her words clipped and angry before the other mare cut in, trying to calm things down. Raine turned and trotted toward him, obviously finished and wanting to leave as he had suggested earlier.
» Keanu didn't want to put the mare at his back, unable to see her if she chose to advance on them and very unlikely to be able to do anything about it, but he couldn't walk backwards either. He carefully turned and started to follow Raine, tearing his eyes off of the angry creature and paying attention to the trees around him. He truly hoped the mare would leave it alone, but he assumed it was a lost hope. Her anger was buried deep and thirsty, and she wanted to take it out on him. He sighed lightly, barely, more of a huff as he limped forward. The pain blended into everything else and he didn't seem to be able to feel it any longer. At least that was something.
» He hoped they would find a body of water nearby. He remembered a river at the bottom of the mountain, but he didn't think he could make it all the way down without stumbling and falling. There were always the lands that bordered the North, with fast flowing rivers. There was plenty of water there, but with one false step he would surely be swept away, most likely to his death or great injury that would result in death. He didn't want to risk either one, but what other choices were there if they couldn't find anything here in the trees?
» Keanu carefully picked up his pace, bearing the sharp pains that shot through his leg as he did. He stopped when he was even with Raine, walking again. "You didn't have to do that," he said quietly, lightly brushing his muzzle against her dark shoulder. "Thank you though." He pulled away but continued to walk, his ears waiting for the sounds of the other mare coming for him.

"You. Need. To. Shut. Up," hissed the mare, her words sharp and angry. The mare was certainly angry at her, the blood boiling in both of the equines' veins. The mare rolled her eyes in fury, clashing her hooves together before snapping out and catching Song's face in her teeth as the pale mare jerked away from the unknown one. The skin ruptured, breaking small veins and causing thin streams of blood to trickle down Song's pink nose. Song retaliated quickly, lashing out with fury at the face of the mare. "Shut up, you stupid, slutty bitch!" Song screamed n fury before attempting to tear the flesh of the female with her teeth, hoping to catch the neck of the mare in her sharp teeth. Stupid, stupid mare; daring to lash out at Song. Yet she seemed to delight at the pain her nerves told her brain she was experiencing; she enjoyed the misery of another horse ripping at her emotionally and physically. Pain, see, was better than nothing, pain was better than turning into a numb killing machine. Anger and pain; that was all she really felt anymore, and that, for sure, was better than nothing at all. "You have absolutely no right to be this downright rude to others which you have just met. No. Right. Learn some God-forsaken manners before you dare return in my face," the mare dared hiss at Song. She would pay, oh yes; she wasn't above hurting stupid, ignorant little mares who knew nothing. She wouldn't kill her, no, she'd hurt the mare, and let the mare hurt her, sometimes, let the blood run down her flesh. It was a good thing, that pain, a way to express what she felt inside externally. Pain was amazing; she'd missed it in her brief break form stallions. Numb, really, was all she felt in that break; she had nothing to anger or pain her, and that was all she felt anymore. Song clenched her teeth together, rearing high into the air and hoping to slam into the mare with her front flints. All she wanted to do was hurt this mare- and her stupid, filthy companion- let the blood of the mare run down both of their pelts, let the blood intermingle as it fell to the ground. Oh yes, her mind and her body ached with the want to see this mare bleed, to let the blood seep into the thirsted ground beneath their feet... to see the mare drop to the ground in sheer pain and terror... to see the head fall to the ground below... to watch the neck snap- No, Song wouldn't kill this mare; she would rather torture her, let her bleed, let her body cry out from abuse, play with her mind- no, wait; song must be confusing this anger, transferring it to the mare. She didn't want to hurt Raine, no, not exactly- she wanted to murder Keanu- though not yet, no, not yet... She wanted to make him pay for what he did- which was, of course, being himself. A filthy being such as himself did not deserve to live; no, a stallion should never live in this world. All that should come of this stag's existence was a bloody and horrible death, one preceded by much torture. Oh, yes; she would hurt this stag, she would hurt him badly... ”Raine. Song. What good will fighting do? Raine, you’re already injured. And Song, what has Raine done to deserve your fury?” questioned Sheba- the one mare that Song actually appreciated here, instead of feeling an absolute fury towards. Yes, maybe she would listen to this mare; maybe Song would let this mare talk a bit of patience into her. Maybe. She didn't want patience now, though; she wanted a messy, crimson bloodbath in the liquid of the stag before her... Her anger seemed to intensify as they began to walk away, threatening to completely overcome her an take control of every drop of self-control she managed to retain. The way that stag simply turned from her, as if she were no more threatening than a fly... It pulled her under a sea of intense rage, making her scream out in an unstoppable fury, making her heart beat faster with each pump of adrenaline. She broke out into a gallop, her eyes set on the back of this stag. If she could topple him over, if she could crush him like a flower beneath her hooves... yes, that was all she wanted. Song reared up, striking out at the sky with her flints before crashing to the ground a mere foot behind the stag, her maw stretching out to try and rip at his cremello hindquarters, before raising up into the sky again to try to slam into his backside, attempting to weaken his legs and push him to the ground before she slammed into him again. She wanted to feel his flesh tear beneath her, the blood splash upon her legs and chest, hear him cry out in agony... She wanted to feel the struggle as she fought him, feel the retaliating blows as the stag tried to stop her rain of her attacks, feel the life slowly slip away, watch his eyes grow dull and dead as he slowly fell limp on the ground before her, feel the pure ecstasy of taking the life of yet another foul, disgusting stallion... Yes, that was all that Song wanted to see as she lashed out once more, using her hind legs to kick out at the backs of his knees, hoping to hit them and cause him to buckle to the ground. She hated him, she hated all stallions with a passion that made her fly into a murderous rage whenever she caught the scent of a stag passing by, be he truly foul or not she did not care; to her, every stag that passed deserved no more than a bloody, unbearable death. Yes. Song wanted him dead.

When happiness doesn't work trust me and take my hand when the lights go out you will understand As soon as Raine had snapped out at the mare she got a teethful in her face, tearing at the flesh against her nostrils, sending trickling lines of blood down her face, sending the intoxicating smell into her nostrils. Then, as the mare spun around, in an attempt to move out of the way of Song, the teeth grasped out again, tearing a chuck of skin off of her neck, causing the scent to worsen at the crimson liquid slid down her charcoal coat, almost hiding itself in it, and then sliding down in the creases. Too much blood. She wasn't sure she could handle it much longer. But, of course, the other mare had reared up, her front flints clipping her in the head, and then the chest. Her whole body falling down on her and almost pinning her to the ground as Raine wiggled her way out of the situation, pain writhing through her whole body. The scent of blood making her faint. She couldn't stay and fight. Otherwise she would lose, she would lose and be killed. Quickly, she bolted off, ahead of Keanu as he caught up with her. "You didn't have to do that," he said before brushing her shoulder, placing her back on earth for the few moments and causing the rusty scent to leave her mind, keeping her from fainting for a few minutes longer. "Thank you though," he finished as another scream from that obnoxious mare filled her head, and she immediately pinned her ears back in sheer annoyance. When she turned her head around she saw the mare bolting towards Keanu. Immediately, she let out a screach, snapping out at the stomach of the mare who was rearing up in attempt to hurt Keanu. "Just. Stop!" Raine snorted, her voice weakened as she fought the idea of fainting. "He has done nothing to you. There is no need to be fighting!" she said, trying to calm this annoying mare down. She couldn't deal with a hassel. She couldn't deal with the scent of blood that was lurking around. The feel of her crimson, sticky liquid as it dripped into her nares, making the intoxicating smell even stronger, luring her even more into the possibility of unconciousness.

Sheba Raine’s teeth reached the delicate skin of Song’s face, ripping her flesh and sending blood gushing forth, a startling crimson in the leafy green clearing. Her words were lost as the mares eyed each other furiously, Song poised to attack, and Raine ready to defend. Oh, don’t get her wrong, she enjoyed a good fight, but her interest was waning. She could not manipulate the battle enough to give her full attention to it, this constant fighting with no results only interrupted her efforts to get them moving and to learn their fears. She began to turn in disgust, ready to aim a parting kick at both of them for being contrary to her designs, but hesitated as she saw Raine recoil from the blood. She didn’t like blood, did she? Smiling wickedly, she decided to give the mare a parting gift before she went. But she’d wait for the mare’s attention before she’d act. Yes, patience. Patience. That was another thing: Song could be a strong ally, but she had too much of her own hate still left in her to be of much use to Sheba. She wouldn’t want the mare attacking every stag they met, now, would she? If they had stayed together, Song would surely have driven off any newcomers that Sheba could have otherwise attracted. Stags were generally the easiest prey as they easily succumbed to a coaxing caress from her muzzle or a well-timed brush of her lithe, warm body against their muscular frame. She could feel them tremble as she imagined them now, they with their dopey lovestruck expressions and their deep murmurs that they imagined were comforting to her. Her smile grew broader when she remembered their reactions when she had slipped away, much like she was about to do in a moment. Initially surprise (how could a pretty devoted little creature like herself bear to leave their sides?), then worry (had she been hurt? Had another stag come upon her and taken her?) and then…well from there they all reacted violently within a huge spectrum of emotion, some with grief (Sheba let her mind pass across those memories quickly), some with confusion and shock, and others with rage. That was her favorite part, watching their emotion quietly, standing motionless from a vantage point where they couldn’t see her. Far enough away so that they’d never catch her again, but close enough so that her maddening scent kept her present in their tormented minds. No, she couldn’t have Song tagging along and scaring away all the prey now, could she?
But now, for her parting gift. She waited for a break in the fighting, made sure Raine saw her, and then slowly and deliberately ran her neck along the ragged edge of a broken branch that had been snapped jaggedly in half by the storm. She knew it would heal in time without leaving a permanent marking, but it was deep enough to bring forth the warm crimson liquid that she desired. Striding lightly toward the raven-colored mare, she tossed back her silky mane to reveal the fresh cut below, where blood was already beginning to drip in ruby rivers down her alabaster neck. Advancing, keeping her face devoid of any emotion, she continued toward Raine. When she was within a few feet of her, she lunged suddenly, blood spurting from the wound in the direction of the injured mare. Allowing the gleam to take up residence again in her deep brown irises, she looked the mare full in the face before crashing into her, covering her with her blood. Her mission accomplished, she retreated immediately, slipping swiftly into the trees, her light frame noiselessly moving through the shadows. Once out of sight, she looped back towards the river to soak her own wound. Flopping down contentedly in the shallows, she sighed softly. That mare had gotten what Sheba had wanted to do to her all along. Good riddance. And Song, well, Song could fend for herself. She was too impulsive, but perhaps they’d meet again sometime in the future, and making her brief acquaintance would come in handy. Letting the icy water draw he blood away from her body and purify the wound, Sheba was strongly tempted to follow these three from a distance to see what became of them. She was good at hiding herself, or appearing as an illusion or a nightmare, drifting between the trees. In fact, she occasionally did this to torment some stags who had been exceptionally drawn to her. At night, she would find them, tantalizing them with her scent, leading them on a wild goose chase through the trees after her slender gray body, only to disappear again and leave them alone. Deciding that she quite liked this idea, she rose, shaking droplets of blood and water from her body and sending them flying like pieces of rose-colored cystal. It would be so easy. Song would keep Raine’s attention on matters at hand and immediate survival, and she would be able to observe, unnoticed between the trees. Even if they did spot her, they were in no condition to come after her. Sheba would just be a reminder of today, of the fighting and the blood and the fear. And that thought warmed her in the same way it would have warmed any other mare if a stag had nuzzled her in a particularly loving way. Sheba kept this thought close to her heart as she picked up her small hooves daintily, ready to exit the freezing water.
As she stepped on to the mossy bank, she smiled again, silently admiring the way that she made no noise when she moved across the ground. She pricked her ears, as if daring them to catch the faintest sounds of her hoofbeats. Nothing. Not a sound. Not even the slightest hint of—wait, what? What was that? It took her a moment to snap out of her proud reverie and reorient herself. Of course those couldn’t be her own hoofbeats, they were too much heavy. She snorted in disdain, in fact, it was almost as if the owner of those hooves didn’t care at all if they were heard. Must be a stag, she assumed, cocky as usual. Ah well, another one to manipulate. She headed in the direction of the noise, trailing the unfamiliar horse. Nostrils dilating, she searched the air for traces of a scent, any scent that would give her a clue as to whom she was approaching. Suddenly, the steady tread stopped, leaving the forest silent. Whoever it was had sensed her. How could this be? Only those with the most sensitive ears would be able to hear her, she who possessed the gift of silence that she had just been admiring. Giving up her hiding place, she stepped forward to meet the stag. Maybe she would be so kind as to direct him toward Song. Raising her brown eyes to meet his, she stepped back in surprise. The eyes that had moments before been so cunning widened and grew fearful. Memories of the war rushed back, the glimpses of the battlefield she had had before her overprotective mother had rushed her into the safety of the woods. Recollections of powerful warriors fighting to the death, and at the center of it all, just once, she had seen this stag before. He was no ordinary rogue. This was the Alpha.
Without a word, Sheba turned and fled.

» Keanu's ears swiveled as the sound of fast approaching hoof beats reached them, the feel vibrating across the ground as well. He pinned his ears, stopping as Song came closer, his patience running very thin. She reared up behind him, her hooves piercing the air. He snorted, tired of her games as all his vows faded away. He heaved his hind end off the ground, kicking out with his legs and connecting with the mare's underbelly. He truly was fed up and he wasn't going to take much more.
» Anger filled his eyes as he was on a fours again, quickly pivoting and facing the venomous mare. The pain in his leg was forgotten, lost in a sea of anger that seemed to take him over. His eyes were clouded and not himself, darkness lurking inside. He whinnied loudly, lurching forward and slamming his chest into hers. They were of almost the same height, she being a tad taller but he was bulkier and more muscular. His weight was thrown against her in an attempt to make her back away, his teeth burying themselves in her light coat and pulling backward, blood bursting in his mouth.
» The mare reared again, his hold breaking free and he quickly moved to the side, shoving his head against her side in an attempt to push her over. He snorted, carefully lifting himself into the air and striking out with his foreleg. Song turned, kicking out with her back legs and he jumped backwards, catching a blow to the shoulder before he would get out of the way. The wound immediately began to bleed, his shoulder streaked with red.
» He skipped to the side, favoring his leg again. All of the pressure and weight it was being forced to hold was taking it's toll. His breathing was only slightly labored as he stood there, the mares blood trailing from his maw and dripping to the ground. His cremello coat was speckled in pinkish dots from all of the movement.
» Keanu slowly began to come back to himself, blinking a few times and backing up. He shook his head as his chest began to move faster, his breathing increasing and his heartbeat thudding in his ears. What had he done? He looked up at Song, deciding it was best to hold his own as best as he could since he had already retaliated against her. She was sure to come at him again, angry and swinging. He just hoped he would last through this fight, able to wake in the morning and put this all behind him.

Still I hear you say you want to end your life now and again we try to just stay alive Riane's whole body trembled as the blood began to do nothing but fill her brain. The scent, sending her into a weaker state. She snorted once, backing up away from the stag as he kicked out. He could probably hold his own right now, couldn't he. After all, he was kicking out, fighting back, lashing out. He seemed to have a good accuracy when it came to making injuries. But, as she backed up the other mare, Sheba she believed her name to be, had cut her neck on a snapped branch. The crimson liquid was oozing out of the wound as she bolted towards Raine. Sheba ran straight into Raine's body before covering her in the sticky crimson liquid. No, too much blood. Way too much blood. She let out a snort of disbelief, shaking her head to try and rid the scent from the allowance into her nostrils. And then, with one last glance at the two brawling equines, she backed up to a tree, and then collapsed. She was falling unconcious again.

Song let out a small snort of surprise as Keanu turned, kicking out at her underbelly. Song screeched in defiance as she landed with the blow, snapping out and catching his skin in her teeth, the foul being. So he wanted to fight now, did he? He wanted to defend himself? She expected no less of him; he was, after all, a living creature who did not seem suicidal- why wouldn't he? She would show him, oh yes; she could put up a fight as well. Murder was not necessary, not now, though she was sure to keep the air that it was. Her blood boiled as he attacked again, slamming into her and tearing at her flesh. The screams of pain her body sent her felt good as Keanu pressed into her braced legs, forcing her knees to overextend in an attempt to hold her weight, the pain intensifying as he ripped at her skin, tearing open blood vessels that would heal soon enough. She retaliated quickly was a hard blow to his chest, hoping to knock the wind out of the stag as she bit at his shoulder, pulling back quickly as the blood burst forth from his skin, mesmerized by the way it dripped down his skin. It was not soon after this that she ended her assult, the stag backing away without another attack. Perhaps he was frightened of her, or the pain was getting to him. Her breathing was beginning to shift into irregular patterns from the rush of adrenaline she was getting, an intoxicating shot of power, strength, fearlessness she craved. With this Song rushed foward, bowling into the side of the stallion in an attempt to knock him below her. As she fought she could see, just out of the corner of her eye, the mare, Sheba, rushing towards Raine, blood dripping down her neck. Raine obviously had some type of aversion to blood; it made her dizzy, it seemed. Sheba took advantage of this and smeared her own sticky, red substance all over Raine's pelt before racing off. Even though Raine was a mare, Song still felt a hatred towards the creature; the loving and compassionate and weak being she seemed to be. Her threats were nothing but that- threats. She wouldn't act on them, and would probably faint if the scent of blood ever reached her nose. Her assumptions proved true as Raine fell to the ground, unconscious- and as Sheba disappeared soundlessly. This mare had, it seemed, trained herself to be silent, to move without a hint of noise. Perhaps, had Song been there, had she been more patient, she could have stayed with Sheba and learned this trick. Sheba wasn't altogether violent, no; she was very collected, and a very mind orientated, mare. However, perhaps the two would meet in the future- and Song wouldn't be nearly as hostile if she was an ally... Was Sheba an ally? To Song she was an ally of sorts. Not quite how most allies were, though she was partially sure that Sheba shouldn't attack her out of the blue. Song was the one who did that, song was the one who attacked filthy beasts like Keanu and ones who she hated, now, the ones like Raine... Raine, who was lying on the ground unconscious; Raine, who could do nothing to defend herself; Raine, who could only get harmed there and be unable to stop the pounding until she regained consciousness... Yes, Song could use this; it would certainly provide more of a fight between Song and Keanu; Keanu seemed to love the creature, so he would most certainly fight to protect it. Yes... Song could certainly fight him further! She turned her back on the stag, racing off towards the unconscious Raine. She slammed her hooves down suddenly, hoping to connect her hooves to the flank of the mare. Yes, she could get a good fight here...

» Keanu quickly side stepped as Song came rushing at him again, her body catching his shoulder because he couldn't move fast enough. He huffed, stiffening his legs to keep from falling to the ground again. He knew he wouldn't be able to rise without help and help wasn't coming. He risked a quick glance at Raine, her face covered with a layer of blood from the retreating Sheba. She lay against a tree, unconscious again. He looked back at Song, who seemed to have been looking at Sheba and Raine as he had. His ears pinned as he glanced back at Raine, laying on the ground, unable to protect herself at all. He looked back at Song, almost able to see the wheels turning in her head.
» He snorted, turning towards Song and holding his weight on his hind legs, gritting his teeth as pain short through the right one. He jumped forward just as Song ran forward, barely catching her back under his hooves as he turned and lunged forward again. She was going to attack Raine. He whinnied and rushed forward, barreling into Song as she pounded her hooves down. He reared up again, slamming his own hooves into the mare's flesh, hoping to slice it open. He opened his mouth, burying the white daggers into her flesh and pulling backward, feeling the skin break and burst into his mouth.
» He pulled himself up again, kicking his forelegs toward her head and neck, hoping to catch something. He landed on all fours, immediately pivoting and kicking out with his hind legs, aiming to catch her rib cage and hoping to hear something crack under the force of his hooves. He was truly angry now, lashing out of his own accord instead of on his instincts. He wanted to hurt this mare and the thought didn't even scare him.
» He took a deep breath, retreating a few steps and standing between Song and Raine. He hoped that Song hadn't gotten the chance to hurt her, but he wasn't going to risk taking the time to look down and find out for himself. His heartbeat echoed in his ears, his sides heaving up and down and his ribs rippling under the cream pelt. He wished that Song would just go, content enough to walk away and leave him and Raine alone, but he didn't think that would happen.
» Keanu stood there, his head held high and his ears pinned back against his neck, which was arched at the poll and stretched from his chest and shoulders. His legs here straight and tense, the muscles coiled like a spring, ready to just forward if Song decided to lunge for him again. He wasn't going to let the mare come close to Raine again.
