Nebeast Water water everywhere, and deep down in falls it goes. That's really not so big a deal, though floundering down one and dieing might be bad. I say might, because we don't really know what's on the other side. I've killed enough to know that I really hope I'm sending them on to somewhere nicer than here. Taking lives, well, it hurts. Life's like that though. It's fight or flight, with flight more and more often these days being into a void you can't come back from. That's why I am who I am. The opposite of what I should have been, but that's right beside the point. The coco and vanilla stallion wound his way through trees and rivers, in this deserted and undeniably dangerous land. He'd been walking on the dangerous side of life for so long now though that he didn't even stop to think about whether or not it was a good idea to be here. It was secluded, a winning arguement in his mind, and it was peaceful. Of course, he did have on little scrap of company he couldn't shake, though it was undeniably back some ways trailing him. He hadn't named the creature, because he hadn't been sure of its gender, and he really didn't care to go about thinking up a name that swung either way. Both were content with their little agreement, to range away in the day and meet up at night. It ate anything he stomped on, and he took advantage of having a watch dog at night, even if it was a bloody scavenger. Properly speaking of course, it was a fox, and a very common variety at that. They weren't on horridly close terms, but they weren't attacking each other either, and that seemed to work for them both.
Not that there was anything fantastic about his life worth stalking him for. He wasn't the sort that craved attention, just the opposite in fact. Nahele had grown up so cut off, that he hardly knew what to do in a crowd. More than three people he froze up and gradually built up to the point where he exploded. It was quite hard to keep it all in when it came to that. There just wasn't enough space inside to hold off that kind of attack from all sides. When the odds numbered fewer than that though, he was sound, cool headed, and much much more dangerous. When he could think he was highly precise. There was one little glitch in the works that he'd never managed to kill- his cast in stone double, though he'd likely argue not so handsome, brilliant, or talented. Y'know, Keanu had just inheritted the undesirable traits like modesty and likability. Those two just hadn't fit under Nahele's belt, and maybe he shouldn't complain. They looked the same, but they were completely different. Plus, every time they'd run into each other, Nahele had maimed Keanu's pretty face just a bit more. He didn't need to do anything distinctive anymore though. Keanu had those godawful scars from the old days. He'd been on the wrong side of another war, far unlike the one he could see unfolding here.
The right side never got a chance to play out before things had broken down. The nature of that place hadn't been right, and the feeling there was quite unnatural. He was just as content here, alone, without his brother or company, in a dangerous part of town. He wasn't someone who needed a cheerleader or someone to boost him about himself. His little fox friend did that quite well in cleaning up his messes. I could go on for pages and pages about myself if you really prodded me into it, but it's not really worth it. I've got a rap sheet the size of a moose's head, but that doesn't mean it's all things worth hearing. I'll leave it to the others to wine and moan about how bad their past was. I just want to know what's up ahead. I'm much more than some alpha's lapdog. I'm a high class type of killer. Squirrels, I stomp on. The rest is taken care of neatly. Kinda like Dexter. I only kill the bad ones.

The sounds of rushing water mixed with the cries of the birds pierced the air. Keanu snorted softly, his feet sinking into the damp ground as he walked forward. His mind lingered on thoughts of Song, and thinking if leaving her with Oser was a good idea. Hopefully she wouldn't die, and it wouldn't be his fault if she did, he supposed. It would be Oser's, though he knew he would blame himself. It was his fault that she had gotten hurt in the first place, after all. If he had just let her pound on him, none of this would have happened. Though, she wanted him to leave, so he did. He wasn't doing any good staying around there anyway. If anything, he was causing more distress because she hated him so much. He sighed in defeat. He needed to stop thinking about her and what he should have done differently. Stop worrying about it. If she died, she died, if not then great. Even if she spent forever hating him, no matter how sorry he was for what had happened. At least he had gotten some sleep that night. Actual, blissful sleep without any memories or nightmares. Just empty rest leaving behind some energy to actually function. It feel good to actually be able to think clearly and not worry about collapsing in exhaustion. Hopefully he would sleep like that more often and Ember would leave his poor tortured mind alone.
He shook his head, in an attempt to clear it. He focused on the sounds of his feet sinking into the dirt as he picked up a slop trot. The sounds of the nearby waterfall crashing several feet below and into a river. The rustling of leaves on the trees reaching above him for the last of the remaining sunlight as the globe started to descend into the horizon. The temperatures were dropping as the seasons transitioned from summer to fall. Already the leaves around him were changing colors; a darker green among some browns in anticipation for the frost to come. He snorted softly as a few icy drops started to fall from the sky, as if to let everyone know that autumn had arrived. The rain started slow and lazy, but soon started to fall in a constant stream. He squinted through the water that had already started to trickle down his face, and snorted softly as he continued forward at a slow and steady pace. He quite enjoyed the rain, though it was the thunder he wasn't fond of. The rain was cool and refreshing; calming to his tortured mind. The thunder, not so much. The small shaking of the ground and loud rumbling reminded him too much of that night. He was haunted regularly without cause and when there was something to trigger memories, things spun out of control. He looked to the skies, bits and pieces of the grey expanse could be seen through the tree canopies around him. The clouds weren't dark and billowing, signaling that the storm would pass soon and clear as the sun disappeared.
Keanu shook his head as he walked, drops of rain flying from his mane and splattering against the tree trunks. The sounds of someone else traveling through the trees reached his ears, and they twisted forward; listening. He paused in his trotting, halting and sending wet dirt flying up onto his legs. His nostrils quivered as he tried to decipher if the stranger was male or female, but the storm had washed away all scents and left behind the sweet perfume of rain. He took a step forward, stopping again and looking through the trees around him. The trunks were spreading out the further he walked, he noticed. He was probably nearing the rivers and waterfall. Though, that left little space for someone to hide until night fell. Should he continue forward and ignore the stranger, or let his own presence be known if they didn't know already? He took another step forward, unsure. It's not like he was trespassing on someone's land, and he wasn't feeling particularly social either. He sighed quietly, walking forward now without stopping. He was watching his surroundings now, though, not wanting someone to appear out of nowhere and startle him.
He stopped dead in his tracks when he saw the white creature walking ahead of him. It couldn't be, could it? He backed a step, his azure orbs trained on the stallion walking in the trees. It was. Keanu's heart thudded in his ears as the flight instinct began to rise up in him. He didn't want to appear cowardly, but the last thing on his mind was to run into him. His brother. Nahele.
