Repla cocked her head at his tone, the innocence spilling over into her eyes, flickering wildly behind the pieces of happiness and glee. "its tag, isnt it?" she questioned so seriously one would have thought she was using the tone to joke. Her audita pricked forwards to face him as he went to her good side, fiddling with her mane. Poking him slightly in the chest she breathed in his scent and still caught a whiff of the blood. As she slowed down in worry so did he. And soon, they had both stopped. It was at that moment that he heaved his weight onto his hind legs and allowed his body to drape over hers. Immediately, she recognized the stance - no not the idea or the feeling, but the stance. This was something that mates did. Something that usually resulted in a foal. She did not like this. She did not want this commitment. She just wanted someone who cared. Was this normal if they cared? She just didnt know what to believe anymore. Confused and scared her eyes squeezed shut for a few seconds. When she reopened them - instead of happiness - fear clouded over the flame of innocence. "Laoch... What are you doing?!" she squeaked her voice breaking part way through as she squirmed wanting to get out from under him. Divert. Move onto something else. His wound. She could sware she had smelt the rusty smell of blood. Finally she squirmed free, her breathing disasteredly uneven as she attempted to regain her composure. "your wound my warrior. You should be more intent on your wound," she said low and shaky, looking up at him throught her rustic forelock as she bowed her head as one does when they believe they had done something wrong. Though, her eyes were still clouded - no matter how hard that fire burned. [/blockquote] ==into the mind .316 words .turning tables - adele .poor innocent Repla. XD[/size]

LAOCH
"It's tag, right?" Repla's voice reached his ears. Tag? Who'd said anything about...? Ah, she must be joking. He hadn't known she'd had this side. He laughed softly in appreciation of the humor. The mare was a real gem, one of the best he'd brought here. But then again, he'd thought that every time. And then again, she had come on her own; he hadn't brought her here. He craned his neck, trying to make out her eyes in the darkness. Would there be a twinkle of humor there to match that in his own dark eyes? To his surprise, he found her eyes squeezed shut. What? He tried it out, closing his own eyes. This was nice, in a way, he supposed. Kind of strange, but nice. "Laoch... What are you doing?!" He grinned sheepishly at her in the moonlight, seeing that she had caught him with his eyes closed. "Hmm? Just trying what you were doing, Repla." She squirmed under his weight, and he pressed down a bit harder, trying to keep her still. She shouldn't move like that, she'd irritate that wound. Weirdly, she seemed to be thinking along the same track. Repla gave a final wriggle and slid out from under his legs, which he snapped up and set down on the grass with a soft thud. "Your wound my warrior. You should be more intent on your wound," His wound...oh yes. His leg was still pained, but really, he wasn't too concerned about it. He'd been through worse, right? Oh! How thoughtless of him! He'd probably agitated her wound, and she was just too polite to say anything. The poor thing even had her head down as if she felt she had interrupted their game. He nuzzled her softly. "It's all right," he soothed, letting his whiskers tickle her throat. He inhaled, drawing in her scent through his nostrils. She smelled like the meadow, and the wind. But he could also sense the blood, and the cave clinging to her pelt. And...fear? Confusion? He stepped backwards, looking into her eyes for the first time. Oh, horror. She really didn't know what he had been doing. Horror. Horror, horror, horror. He snapped out of his trancelike state, the reality hitting him like a freight train. She was an innocent! He had almost gone against all that he stood for! He hadn't known, but what if he hadn't understood? Why had she led him on like this?! Because truly. He hadn't known. All of the other mares he'd ever approached like that had acted in the same way, and they all had been fine with him. They had understood and agreed. But Repla? He saw now that she hadn't known. Hadn't understood until it was almost too late. And for that, for her innocence, he couldn't be angry with her. He was a fool. For the first time, he felt the guilt of the oppressor. His stomach sank, and his heart slowed. He was the oppressor. He could have ruined her forever. But he hadn't meant to! He hadn't meant to, and he hated the way she was making him feel. Because under his repulsion at what he had almost done, there was still that desire. He didn't want it there, but now it was awake and refusing to go back to sleep. He wanted her, but then there was anger and disgust and confusion and awkwardness all mixed into a tight knot in his chest, completely disrupting his usual calm demeanor. Laoch only felt one thing at a time. He was only one thing at a time. Laoch, the warrior. Laoch, the defender. Laoch, the ladies' man. NOT Laoch, the mixed up ball of emotions. One thing at a time. One thing at a time. What was he feeling right now? Repentant. He'd go with that. He moved forward, facing her, head lowered. "Repla," he murmured. "Repla, I'm so sorry. I didn't know. Truly, I didn't. I thought it was what you wanted. Repla...I don't know how to say this. But I'm sorry." His muzzle scraped the rough grass as the moon began to set and the fireflies began to disappear. The meadow was no longer silver, and his leg no longer felt painless. It was hurting now. Definitely hurting. And Repla! Her own wound, he saw now, was worse than he had thought. Laoch hung his head. It was all wrong.

Repla shifted, keeping her head low as she watched him, feeling a singe-ing in her side where her open wound was. She could hear him speak, his words soft and low. She hadnt know what was so funny, what would have caused him to laugh, as nothing she had said had been funny. Upon hearing his voice again after his break she perked her ears forwards. An apology. She bobbed her head just slightly. "Im sorry. I didnt mean to..." she said, referring to leading him on. She really hadnt known. Blinking once the fear slowly began to disipate the innocence glowing like a torch in her eyes as she looked at him, his own head so low that his maw was touching the grass. "Im not sure I want that. Ive never - I just dont know what to do, and its strange and-" she cut herself off realizing that she was blabbering on in her nervousness. "ill try not to do it again..." she said before gently messing up his forelock with her maw and then heading to move just a little closer to him. "i forgive you, though it was my fault in the first place," she said quietly but as she stretched out so she could reach his side her wound screeched out in pain and she recoiled, pinning her ears at the aggitated wound, the extremly aggitated and aggrivated wound that was beginning to start bleeding again. LAOCH
The moon was low in the sky, which was slowly turning orange. Repla spoke, startling him. He hadn't expected that. He'd expected a cold nod, or for her to flee, or lash out at him, anything but this. At the same time though, he'd known that she would feel this way. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to..." She hadn't meant to what? Hadn't meant to move? Hadn't meant to shy away? Oh, goodness, had she felt that he'd been pressuring her?! He squeezed his eyes shut, trying to block out the reality. "I've never - I just don't know what to do, and it's strange and-" Repla continued, trying to explain something that wasn't her fault at all. "I'll try not to do it again..." She'd try? No, he would. He wouldn't do it again. "I forgive you, though it was my fault in the first place," she finished, brushing his messy forelock with her maw. Just as her lips brushed his forelock, they both seemed to jerk backwards as if they had been shocked. He didn't blame her. She must have regretted touching him, and he didn't want her touching him. It would only lead to all things awful if she touched him. "Listen...Repla. It's not your fault. It will never be your fault. Why don't we just forget about this?" And with that, he sighed softly. The sun burst over the horizon, illuminating the two figures standing together in the dewy meadow. Renewal. But would they ever be able to start over after that? He didn't think so.

Repla bobbed her head. "Yes. Start anew." she said before starting to walk back towards the cave only to cringe at the sudden pain in her side. She let out a low whimper, feeling her flesh around the wound rippling slightly as if fought away the few pesky flies. She snapped at them in annoyance. "Im am Repla. And it is an honour to be in your presence, Laoch," she said, trying to keep her mind off of the pain that was keeping her stuck in a standstill. Her forelock fell over her slate eyes and her mane trailed cautiously against her scapula and the muscles enveloping it in a package which produced strength, though not nearly as much as if from her hindquarters which had been moving in perfect time, creating a tiny swaying motion and allowing her tail to trail against the ground in its silky fashion until it had its tiny line behind her in the standstill, only a few feet from him. But, no matter how much she tried to hide the pain it was becoming obvious. Fear gone, innocence and pain replacing it. Just pain. Nothing else. Nothing but the pain. LAOCH
Repla nodded in agreement. She voiced her reply, once again calling him by name. He wished that she'd stop that. It wasn't helping him forget. She started walking away, tail trailing along behind her lazily. It seemed to him that she was still holding it slightly aside...what was the deal? Was she just playing with him? He shook his head, trying to clear it of her image, lit by the soft early-morning light. He wasn't used to being turned away like that. Laoch was irritated now. He was slipping back into stallion-mode, remembering the others before her in the same early morning light. Waking up with their heads on his back, standing together by the stream, eating breakfast among the flowers...the memories played in his mind, him cantering behind spotted mares, chestnut mares, dark black mares, all beautiful creatures. Why wouldn't Repla cooperate? No matter. Another memory pushed its way into his head, a silhouette of an elegant Thoroughbred mare sleeping near a lake. He was standing on a ridge, looking back at her. Leaving. He didn't feel remorse though. Boredom was the only emotion that crossed his mind. She no longer interested him, and he was moving on. Time to be alone again, to be free. It didn't matter if he couldn't have Repla. He'd only grow bored with her anyways, like he had with all of the others. The emotions disappeared, and he followed from a distance, eyeing her as he would a wounded elderly horse or foal, concern rippling across his brow. He could tell that the wound was paining her, but he was reluctant to take her back to the water and back into the dark. Besides, it didn't need a soaking, just a rinsing. But what to do? His solution came in the form of a drop of rain. He looked up. Thin blue clouds were rolling in, scattering the field with moisture. It came faster and faster, washing down in a swift summer downpour. He stood, lifting his face to the cleansing liquid. After a moment, he trotted toward Repla to see how she was faring. He grinned at her, pleased with the weather. "What luck, isn't it?"

Repla looked back at him, tilting her head slightlybto the side as the rain began to drench her coat getting stronger and stronger until it drowned out her voice when she spoke, agreeing with him. She shifted a little uneasily as ir began to dig into her wound but she didnt run for cover. She knew - without even being able to look at it - that it needed a good rinsing. Closing her eyes so the rain didnt sting her orbs she stood there, her ears flat to the sides making a horizontal line, mane and forelock becoming stringy and sticking against her build, across her ears awkwardly and her tail sliding around her legs because of a slight gust of wind. Soon, the coldness began to stick in and she shivered, lowering her head but not daring to move. She could feel her legs trembling under her - her own body exhausted from pushing against the wound for so long and it was sheer will-power that kept her standing. She was not to worry about herself. No. She was to worry about others before herself. She was not important enough to matter. Others had more to give than she did, and that was why you should help them as much as possible, no matter what you are going through. [/blockquote] ==into the mind . 219 words . Poor Repla . LAOCH
The rain drowned out her voice, but she seemed to nod. He was glad to see the water cleaning her wound. This was good. Something to focus on. All business, he squinted at the pink flesh, willing it to heal. This was good. The roan began to shiver. No. This was bad. Her legs were trembling, and in her weakened state, her knew that her body wouldn't be able to take much more if she was left to herself in the sudden cold. He moved forward slowly, reluctant to alarm her by getting too near. His emotions were no longer twisted up like they had been, he was calm and protective. However, he didn't wish to alarm her with his proximity. There was nothing else to do though. So, he moved alongside her, pressing his hide to hers on her uninjured side, allowing his own warmth to warm her. He assumed the position of a friend, nonthreatening, as if he were grooming her. Stretched out alongside her, his body was a support for her, should she feel comfortable enough to lean on him. It felt good to be helping her, to be protecting one who so needed it. This was what he did. However, the faintest spark was still quivering in his chest, right around the area that was pressed against Repla. No. He was in control again. He. Was. In. Control. If only he hadn't been so stupid. Maybe with time, it would've been different.

As soon as she felt his warmth against her pelt she dropped her head a bit lower - feeling her knees starting to buckle - as she attempted to find her balance again. Leaning up against him she closed her eyes again and then burrowed her head between his shoulder and his barrel, so her orbs were protected from the pelting rain. She shifted a little, collecting her feet under her again, but still leaning slightly into him. "Thank you," she said as loud as she could though it only sounded like a whisper against the rain. "Thank you my warrior," she said before pausing. "your wound? How are you holding up with your wound?" she said, the worry obvious in her voice, even with this storm muffling her sound. LAOCH
Repla buried her head in his side. Her touch tickled his muscled shoulder, but it was not unpleasant. He sighed a little and leaned into her as she leaned into him. He still couldn't dodge the feeling that this would be exactly how they would be standing if she had been his mistress, perhaps wrapped a little more closely around each other, but the idea was the same.
No, the idea was not the same. He would have no ideas about Repla. He wouldn't pursue her if she would not allow herself to be pursued. That was that. If at any point, she allowed it, then he would see. But for now, he must be careful with her. He must remedy his mistake, redeem himself before he could think of the future.
She began to speak, velvety lips brushing against his soaking hide. He suppressed a ticklish shiver. What was that she was saying? He tipped an ear back, trying to catch the words intoned by the sweet voice. "Thank you my warrior. Your wound? How are you holding up with your wound?"
He called back to her in response. "Repla, please don't worry yourself over that little cut. I'll be fine. It's you we need to worry about." The warrior gently brushed a bit of mud off of her back with his muzzle. "Shhh, rest now." The rain was dying down, and he moved closer to her in the drizzle. "Lean on me and rest."
