Just like the clouds my eyes will do the same if you walk away everyday it'll rain, rain, rain Rasta slowly came to a halt along the edge of a cliff. It was nice, to at times, just be able to 'look out' over her land. It was a bit harder for her to be able to actually be everywhere and she didn't know how much longer she would be able to do this. As she let her mind wander she continually began to flit backwards towards Taj. And then, towards the harm that Scath had caused. FORGET ABOUT HIM! her hawk screamed at her and she panicked. Tracking backwards a little bit and catching her footing so she didn't collapse at the shock of her hawk screaming at her. Seriously! You need to like drop Scath. You may act like you are over him. But you aren't. Deal with it! she snorted and pinned her ears. "I know! I know! Scath needs to disappear. Scath needs to leave! But he can't kill me as easily as before. After all. Taj healed my back! Even if you did try and screw everything up! What was it with that wonderful little attack?!" she snorted and looked towards the forest where she swore she had heard some rustling. But, upon feeling she couldn't feel anything to tell her that someone was actually there.
She swished her tail a couple of times. Taj wanted a family - Taj would get a family. Whether she could give it to him or some other mare in the herd they would make would - she would make sure he had a family. He would make a good father - and she had him. He was going to stay with her until one of them was killed. Not until he grew old. Until they were actually killed. Letting out a tiny breath she looked around again - her hawk disappearing into the sky.
Repla laughed, having had rested well with Lao before taking off at a gallop. "Catch me if you can!" she shouted before kicking up her heels and then bolting off through the snow. Each time she landed upon ice she allowed herself to slide to the end. Though, as she got towards the end of the trees she could have sworn she had heard someone talking. She stopped - sliding to a halt and catching her breath before looking through the trees. Rasta was there, complaining about something. Though what exactly she didn't really know. Confusion flooded her - and then worry. What if Lao saw her again? What if Rasta knew Lao was there? She didn't want to loose Lao. She couldn't lose Lao. Her eyes were clouded with fear and a tinge of sadness in the deepest edges of her pupils. She froze and was stark still until she knew for sure that she wasn't detected yet...

Snow flew beneath his hooves as the gray stag headed north. He had crossed the boundary into the north lands just days ago, traveling as fast as he could. His lands were left unprotected and in Ramaskith's power; and if he did not react speedily, all would suffer. Every step he took sprayed snow everywhere as he galloped, propelled by deep rage at Ramaskith, at It, and at Song. Well, not rage at Song exactly. More like hurt. Or betrayal. Or heartbreak. All of the above. He'd thought he'd loved her, and she'd thrown it all in his face. There were no words to describe the deep gash she'd cut into his newly-healed heart. He shook his head, refusing to think about her.
In this manner, he'd been moving along by both night and day, rarely stopping to rest. He'd avoided most other equines, for he sought only one at the moment: Rasta. Rasta was the only one who might be able to help him. The blind Alpha mare of the North. He grinned slightly thinking of her. He hadn't seen her in years, and he briefly wondered how he would find her. He chuckled softly, remembering how he'd been able to find her easily enough in the past. That golden coat always gave her away. Yes, the mare could hide well, but her familiar form had a way of standing out to him. As if his thoughts of Rasta had conjured up a mare, a red roan appeared from the trees up ahead. He could hear her laughing as she ran, and he saw her pause to look over her shoulder, as if someone were following. Oser sighed internally, remembering what might have been...
Snap out of it, he directed himself. Just stop it. He continued on his way, eventually reaching the red roan with a polite, "Excuse me, miss," and a nod before moving forwards again. Glancing past her, his breath caught in his throat. For there she was, not looking a day older than the last time he'd seen her. Benefits of immortality, he supposed. Letting a slow grin creep over his face, he swung into a dramatic slow trot, approaching the golden mare. Just as he reached her, Oser spoke, his tone flirtatious, turning on the charm for the moment. Rasta deserved no less.
"Hello, gorgeous. Remember me?"

Today in the blink of an eye I'm holding onto something and I do not know why I try. I try to read between the lines. I try to look in your eyes Rasta laughed. "Oh. Hello handsome!" she said a tad bit of sarcasm slipping off of her maw. "I see you are having more girl problems?" She hadn't turned around, but she knew it was Oser. Few dared to approach her like that. And Taj wouldn't have added the remember me so it was quite simple to know who had appeared - even if his build was different than Taj's.
Finally she turned around, looking over to him. "What exactly do you want, Oser?" she said, more sarcasm dripping off of her maw. "Please tell me you aren't running here because Rama has badly bruised your ego." she said blatantly, pinning her ears slightly as her hawk flew in and landed on her shoulders letting out a sharp call of disdain. "I would hope I'm not expected to clean up you're little mess," she finished before letting out a small huff of exhaustion and then waiting upon Oser's reply. "Oh. Hello handsome! I see you are having more girl problems?"
Rasta's tone was dry and sarcastic, but he caught the slight teasing lilt in her voice, and he smiled, pulling lightly at her forelock, teasing her in return. "So nice to see you again, too, Rasta. I'm fine thanks, and you? Ah, good. " Nudging her slightly away from the edge of the cliff, he laughed easily and continued. "Perceptive today, aren't we? Well, I see that if I hadn't been having girl problems before, I certainly have one now..."
Oser snorted in amusement at her apparent irritation with him, and she became more annoyed, throwing at him what she knew would needle him. "What exactly do you want, Oser? Please tell me you aren't running here because Rama has badly bruised your ego. I would hope I'm not expected to clean up your little mess." Rasta had grown more sarcastic, he noticed, even letting out a short huff of indignation as if to emphasize her displeasure.
He sighed, his only satisfaction that fact that she'd at least turned around to face him now. Letting out a small huff of his own, he resisted to urge to roll his eyes. Score one for Rasta; she knew how to sober him up. "Goodness, Rasta, you really know how to spoil my fun, don't you?" His eyes grew sad and his tone serious as he continued. "So I see you've heard." He paused, looking past Rasta over the cliff, at her domain below. Lands he had once roamed. Lands that could have been his. And yet, before the war, he'd barely known his own vast lands. He felt a pang in his heart, thinking of the way he'd grown to know the West so intimately; how he was familiar with every stream and every hill, every cave and every hidden trail. Could he really ask for more?
"He attacked, Rasta. He broke the peace. He had an army, Rasta. I couldn't stay."
Oser turned towards the golden mare, eyes pleading.
"Please, Rasta. I need you."

I see the things he does to you all the pain he puts you through and I see what's really going on Rasta shook her head a few times. "You know how much I despise war, Oser. After all. I'm the one that put a stop to the last one. But. Rama has put a personal stake in it for me also." She paused, looking up toward Oser who seemed to be upon his last limb. He didn't know what to do. In fact. He didn't seem to be sure how to go about anything. "How about this, Oser. You help protect my lands and I will supply you with those that are willing to fight for me. I cannot promise I shall actually fight though. I am weak as we all know well," she explained her hawk flying over Oser's head and landing upon a tree branch in the clearing to watch them. "I do believe I recall seeig one of your ex-warriors not to far from here. Maybe you could get him to join you?"
Repla froze in the brush. No. Lao wouldn't leave her - not to fight? Would he? Her heart dropped immediately but she didn't let it show in her eyes as she gulped once. Lao. He wouldn't leave her. He had promised her! A rush of relief flooded through her system at that thought and she prances in place anxious for him to reappear. Just playing around was good for the both of them. "You know how much I despise war, Oser. After all, I'm the one that put a stop to the last one. But...Rama has put a personal stake in it for me also."
He inhaled quickly, eyeing her worriedly. "What did he do to you, Rasta?" he interrupted protectively. "If he laid a hoof on you..." he growled, white hot rage rising in his chest.
"How about this, Oser. You help protect my lands and I will supply you with those that are willing to fight for me. I cannot promise I shall actually fight though. I am weak as we all know well. I do believe I recall seeig one of your ex-warriors not to far from here. Maybe you could get him to join you?" she continued.
He noticed a glowing hawk, hers, he presumed, lift off and settle in a nearby branch, as if to watch his response. "I don't expect you to fight, Rasta. I wouldn't want you to. I will do what I can for you, though unfortunately, I too cannot promise anything. Ramaskith already has won the advantage. But I will do what I can to protect our lands. The inhabitants deserve that much." He nodded seriously, bobbing his head to emphasize his sincerity.
Business taken care of, he nudged her playfully, grateful for her help. "Ah, so there is a warrior hiding somewhere 'round here, is there? Just finished breaking his heart, did you, beautiful? I wouldn't put it past you with those looks," he teased lightly, hiding the faintest note of grief in his voice.

"Repla!" he called, laughing, eyes scanning the horizon for her strawberry-colored body. "Come out, come out, wherever you are!" Eyes lighting on a set of tracks in the slush, he smiled to himself, thanking the weather for his advantage. "You can run, but you can't hide..." Lao chuckled, setting off in the direction that Repla had presumably taken. He noticed a few other pairs of tracks in the snow, but the sun shining brightly down on his back reassured him. A little ways more, and he spotted her, standing quietly amongst some trees, looking as if she was watching something. Taking advantage of her distraction, he smiled, sneaking up behind her, not making a sound until he'd gotten right up to her. Tugging playfully at her tail, his eyes rose to meet hers. "Gotcha," he whispered.

Repla jumped as he pulled on her tail. "So you did!" she teased before turning around and gently nuzzling his cheek. She still had the fear of losing him. She couldn't do it. She didn't want to. And she didn't think she would be able to. Her heart was panged as she looked over to the trees and finally managed to speak. "The war is back, Lao. Or well. A war is starting... I honestly dont remember the first war. I don't remember anything until a year and a half ago..." she mused before shaking her head and getting back on the topic. "Rasta and Oser are on the cliffs talking about plans. Is the war- Lao..." she broke off and closed her eyes forcing the tears back. She didn't enjoy this. She wanted everything to be peaceful. Peaceful. Not worried about death...
Rasta couldn't help but to laugh. "That seems to be my talent doesn't ir?" she questioned, shaking her head in amusement. "Its more like a threat upon my life. An ex of mine knew exactly how to kill me. Mind you I've been healed now but all the same. A threat on my life is a threat on my life" She gently nudged Osers shoulder in an attempt to lighten up the mood. It felt nice to be back around an Alpha who had known the times of peace these lands had seen. "It seems we have visitors," she announced. Oser smiled triumphantly at having got her to laugh. "That seems to be my talent doesn't it?" she replied. "Ah, so you admit that I'm right," he murmured in her ear, holding back a laugh. "Its more like a threat upon my life," Rasta clarified. "An ex of mine knew exactly how to kill me. Mind you I've been healed now but all the same. A threat on my life is a threat on my life."
He nodded, still wondering what Ramaskith had to do with this, but deciding not to probe too deeply. He of all horses should know that past loves could be a sensitive subject. Instead, he chose to keep the mood light, chuckling, "Rasta, Rasta, Rasta, you little heartbreaker. I guess it's just your lucky day now that I'm here to make sure he'll never touch you." She nudged his shoulder and he turned to her in mock surprise, exclaiming, "Hey now! Is this you being...friendly? Must be my lucky day too, hmm?" He ran his muzzle over the top op her head, her mane tickling his skin. It had been years, yet it had seemed like only yesterday since they'd last joked together like this. "You know, Rasta, I probably shouldn't say this given the ammunition it'll give you, but I've missed you."
"It seems we have visitors," Rasta stated, glancing towards the trees. Oser had forgotten about the mare's extraordinary sense of hearing. His ears flicked backwards, suddenly paranoid. Ramaskith's surprise attack had left him much more cautious than he'd ever been. But Rasta seemed to sense no threat, so he let himself relax. She seemed to be a pretty good judge of character. "So we have..." he replied, following her gaze and barely making out two silhouettes beyond the branches. "Shall we go greet your guests?"
LAOCH
"So you did!" Repla exclaimed gently before turning to nuzzle his face. He smiled, leaning down to let her continue. However, something seemed to be troubling her. "What is it, Repla?" he asked. "The war is back, Lao. Or well. A war is starting... I honestly dont remember the first war. I don't remember anything until a year and a half ago...Rasta and Oser are on the cliffs talking about plans. Is the war- Lao..."
His head reeled at all of the sudden information. "Slow down, my dear," he murmured anxiously. "You...can't remember the first war?" Lao laughed worriedly, looking into her eyes. "Well, love, nobody expects you to. You must have been very young...?" he attempted. Nevermind the fact that many of his own foalhood memories were still crystal clear. That was different, he tried to convince himself. "And what's this about Rasta and...Oser?" Could it be? He knew better than anyone that the boundary lines were firmly set and that strict rules had been created to prevent war from happening again. Why was Oser in the North? He had always admired his former leader, but what had caused him to bypass such sacred laws? He brought his muzzle to Repla's forehead absentmindedly, smoothing down her forelock. What would this war mean for Forma Silvestris? He heard footsteps approaching, and he straightened, ears pricked towards the newcomers. "Come Repla..."

Everybody's been wounded by somebody before You can change but you'll always come back for more It's a game and we're all just victims of love... Rasta shook her head. "Oh Oser, I'm not admitting you are right - you've just finally realized the truth!" she teased before shifting her weight a little and cocking her head at him as he spoke. "Rasta, Rasta, Rasta, you little heartbreaker. I guess it's just your lucky day now that I'm here to make sure he'll never touch you." Pausing and pretending to be completely surprised he continued, "Hey now! Is this you being... friendly? Must be my lucky day to, hmm?" She laughed again shaking her head slightly. "I'm always friendly!" she said pretending to be insulted. She could feel his maw over the top of her head causing a shiver to run down her spine as she remembered Scathashoun. Immediately she forced the thought out of her head. No. She didn't need to think about him right now. she had absolutely no reason to! There was no good, logical reason to be thinking about him. "You know, Rasta, I probably shouldn't say this given the ammunition it'll give you, but I've missed you." Oser's voice slowly began to morph into Scath's. She felt her throat tightening and she closed her eyes for a second. No. He wasn't Scath. He had no where near Scath's draft build. Oser was lithe and well built - but not heavy like a friesian. She needed to stop thinking about him. She needed to. She shook her head to get the thought out of her brain. "You have absolutely no reason to miss me. I'm sure you've been swamped with beautiful women at your every turn. But, I think my Oser is beginning to go soft!" she teased before turning and heading towards the pair of equids which she had just helped. "And yes, we should, we very much so should," she said before turning and heading towards the two horses.
Repla was about to begin shaking again. She couldn't think straight. She was going to lose him. She couldn't lose him. "Lao. I don't think you understand... I don't remember anything. Not. One. Thing." her voice broke. "The last thing I remember is a bear - when I was close to five-ish. Running off. And. And... all the blood. And I couldn't move. Lao. The one who saved me said I had amnesia. Okay. I don't know everything I should." she explained her whole body shaking now. But, his absentminded smoothing of forelock brought her back into her normal state of mind. "Rasta and Oser. Are right there." she said her eyes falling upon the two of them. Lao instructed her to move and she followed obediently behind until she was looking directly into the blind mare's eyes only a few feet away. Oser to her top right and Lao directly to her right so that they were looking at each other. [/blockquote] ==into the mind . 489 words . Repla's having a panic attack[/size]

"You have absolutely no reason to miss me. I'm sure you've been swamped with beautiful women at your every turn. But, I think my Oser is beginning to go soft!" Rasta returned saucily. Softer than you think, he thought to himself, before replying. "And just what makes you think that? Seems to me like most of the pretty ladies went North when the war ended," he teased, trying not to show how close to home her remark hit. For perhaps most of the pretty mares had gone North, but the most beautiful was still in the West. Song's face floated before him, and he inhaled rapidly, angry at himself at how, despite what she'd done and how she'd betrayed him, his mind still allowed her in. He didn't need her. He didn't...
Thankfully, Rasta began to walk towards the two other horses, and he followed behind her, respectfully allowing her to speak first in her own domain. He recognized the red roan he'd come across earlier, and next to her was a distantly familiar bay form...memories of the war played through his head, but he found it difficult to place the stag. There had been so many horses, and so much blood. Add into the mix the fact that after a certain point, his heart had hardened and he no longer cared for his warriors, and it became extremely difficult to remember. He sighed softly, regretting his actions. However, his cold hatred of Rama remained. Would he do it all again to kill him?
LAOCH
"Lao. I don't think you understand... I don't remember anything. Not. One. Thing. The last thing I remember is a bear - when I was close to five-ish. Running off. And. And... all the blood. And I couldn't move. Lao. The one who saved me said I had amnesia. Okay. I don't know everything I should."
He shook his head slowly, not sure what to do. He couldn't imagine not being able to remember is own past. Did Repla feel like a part of her was missing? Lao touched her muzzle lightly, replying, "Repla...I'm sorry. I'm sorry that you can't remember, and I'm sorry that I don't know what it's like. I'm sorry that I don't know how to help you." He raised his muzzle to her forehead, continuing "We'll talk about this later. But Repla, it doesn't change how much I love you. No matter what happened, it won't change anything. I love you."
Lao led her out from the trees and towards the two horses up ahead. His eyes widened the tiniest bit when he saw that it was indeed Oser. He hadn't changed at all. Well...there was something different in his expression, something both softer and harder at the same time...could it be a twist of pain? He recognized Rasta again, standing in front of him. Bowing his head low, he greeted them. "A pleasure, once again, madam." He looked at Oser quietly. "Sir."
Would he remember?
