The quiet land was pierced with the sound of soft steps as the stallion made his way into the neutral lands. His muzzle was high, inhaling the air, checking for scents. There was none present in this part of Illud Pacem.... Yet. The Hanoverian form strode into the clear space, his blue/brown eyes looking around for any signs of danger before continuing. With a heaved sigh, his muzzle dropped to the ground once or twice as he kept walking into the field.
His mind drifted from the present state to the night of his mother's horrible death. Even with his eyes tightly shut, his head shaking, he could not rid of the horrid memory.
"Keep running Mother! Only a bit longer to go and we will be free!" He yelled as they sprinted across the land. "I can't go much longer Desiderio!" She said as her legs started to slow. He nudged her on, "You can do it! Only a few more strides!" He reassured her. She shook her head, he slowed with her. As they breathed deeply, trying to make their hearts return to normal, Dez turned his head to look over the last hill they ran over. There was a dark shape standing on top of it. His mane and tail blew in the wind and his head was held high, "Father," Dez barely whispered. His mother turned to look, fear sprang into her eyes. "Run Desiderio! Go!" She yelled. "No Mother!" He called as she turned to face him. "Go," She sneered, but a desperate tone was mixed in. He turned and ran, still young then he didn't have enough ability to fight his father. He turned once he crested the next hill. His father reared and came down on his mother, she squealed and fell. "No!" He yelled. His father looked up as him and snorted. The young stallion turned and sprinted off. This event fustrated Dez more than anything. He stomped at the ground and sighed, he couldn't do anything now. His head was low as he continued to walk aimlessly through the open field.
