Josh ambled through the land, slowly working his legs out. The nights rest has left them stiff and unable to move gracefully. He shook his head as he found himself under a tree next to a stream. He lowered his head and gave drunk. The water felt cool and fresh as it when down this throat.
Looking up at the tree, he saw some apples which have not fallen down yet, taking a grunt he went on his back feet and grabbed one with his teeth. Snorting in pleasure as it was crushed between his feet and juice dribbled down his mouth. He grunted in pleasure, and closed his eyes, letting himself savor the apple. It has been ages since he had last had an apple. Brings back good memories and good times. Opening his eyes, he shifted his view over the valley and watched the other horses, blinking, for his eyesite wasn't as good as it used to be, but still make out the shapes down below.

anniston Anniston ambled through the land, snatching blades of grass here and there as she walked. She wasn't in any rush, of course. She had lingered in the area after her brief encounter with the large stag who hadn't had much to say. It had surprised her that he had known nothing of the war, though such a large creature would have surely been picked up to fight for either side. But, he had seemed genuinely confused, and their conversation, if you could really call it that, had ended quickly and he had left. To where, she had no idea. Not that it mattered much. The spring breeze pulled at her mane, causing her still shedding winter coat to fly in the air. She sneezed softly, shaking her head. She hated this time of year, when all of that hair that kept you warm during the cold season started to fall off. At least it was nearing summer now, and her pelt was almost smooth again. She snatched a few more blades of grass, enjoying the calm that surrounded her as the clouds lazily drifted in the sky. It looked as if it might rain later that night, lending some moisture to the land before the scorching summer months rolled around. She quite liked the rain, when it wasn't freezing cold or falling so fast that it pounded into your skin.
Anni shook her head, mane and hairs bouncing as she snorted, turning and trotting further along the meadow, the tall grass whipping at her legs. She paused, turning her head and seeing another equine standing under a tree. He was looking towards her, and she took a moment to look in the other direction, wondering if he was just watching her. There were some other horses, far in the distance, she saw, but it was still a bit strange for him to just stand there, watching them. Her ears flickered and her eyes narrowed as she turned her head back to the grey smudge. She started walking towards him, wondering what exactly he wanted, and if he was part of the war, like any other stallion would be. She hadn't had much luck though, finding that one stallion and he didn't even know there was a war going on! The equines here were quite strange, but slightly entertaining to say the least. She wouldn't have to fight against them, hopefully, the stupid brainless brutes only traveling away from the battle for pleasure. It sickened her, the way the warriors acted; especially when a mare was involved. Make them think her helpless, bah! She was anything but! She shook her head, picking up a trot as she neared the other equine, pushing the thoughts away. The stag was a smidge taller than she, but not by too much. His build was thick, leading to some heavier heritage. He was mostly a steel grey, dappled with bright, white grey splotches that remained above the legs and blended together along his spine and top of his neck, his face greying out completely. Though his mane was still dark and his tail gradually faded out until the tips were white. He appeared much older than the horses she had encountered of late, the gradual greying of his body lending evidence to the thought. It perked her interest, that she should happen across someone aged. "Hello," she said, nodding her head politely, hoping that he would be more interesting than the younger stags of this time, that perhaps he would have interesting things to say. She waited for his response, not offering anything else for the moment. After all, she couldn't go trusting him right off just because he was old. He could very well be just like all the others. // 633 words anni is interested in interesting things that this interesting stag might interestingly offer! rofl. interesting.

He has he gaze over the valley and he eyes closed as he dozed off. Letting him self be engulfed by the surrounding, letting his ears and nose hear whats around him. Faraway, he heard the sounds of other horses playing, faintly--but not out of ear shot. The brook laughing its way behind him, the rustle of leaves from the old apple tree above his head. He sniffed his nose, the sweet grass all around him, the juice of the apple still in his mouth, on his lips. He sniffed again, and, then picked it up from his left, a young mare coming up the hill on his left. Opening his eyes he saw faintly, he saw a gold flash coming up the hill.
Josh turned his head slowly and looked at the mare, She was a pretty palomino with a golden glow in her coat, looking at her eyes, she noticed it was a soft brown and how she stood and her conformation, still be young. Curious she would come up to him. Well, no harm in making new friends.
"Hello young lady." he rumbled his greeting to the palomino, "Whats your name and what brings out out along this area?" A soft breeze played across the land and washed over Josh.

anniston The stag spoke, his voice deep and raspy, a product of his age though she would think that his voice was deep even before. He asked her name, and why she was there. Why was she there? To just pass the time, maybe. There certainly wasn't anything better to do. It was much easier to hang around up here, in the neutral lands, rather than down where alliances were to be had. "Oh, nothing much," she said, "It's just a whole lot nicer out here, there isn't as much fear in the air." She sighed. It was true, the North was scattered with refugees, all running away from Ramaskith's forces, and then there were the overconfident brutes from everywhere else who were knocking at the door. It was mayhem, and she didn't like it. "I'm Anniston," she said, her tone a little more light hearted compared to before, turning her attention back to the stag in front of her. It was a disappointment that the other creatures of her species were so afraid of what was coming for them that they would hardly fight for it, already given up. It disgusted her, almost as much as the brainless brutes that she hated so. Giving up was simply something you can't do, not and live fully. // 222 words bleh short. :( i always do a decent first post with her, and then everything goes downhill. booooo.

Josh bent down and rubbed his nose on his scared leg when the mare spoke, his long mane falling down his neck and almost brushing the ground, swaying back and forth as dealt with the itch. He lifted up his head as she finished and saw her studying him, her eyes telling a different story. "Anniston, a lovely name for someone as lovely as you." he nickered. He lifted his head and neck up, arching it slightly. His fetlock fell over on either side of his face as he said "My name is Five Dolla High, but around here I am known as Josh. Pleasure to meet you." He said it with some pride in his voice, he may not be as young as he used to but he still has some spark in him from his younger warrior days.
"Isnt as much fear..." he said, repeating Anniston's words and then looking away, "Yes...its almost peaceful..." he muttered. The past few days as he wondered around, he had felt something different in the air, and he soon has his suspicions that this peace won't last long, that on the horizon, another war was coming, and this time, it might now have a good ending.

anniston Anni's hopes dimmed at the sound of his compliment. Lovely? And he followed with a nicker, pulling his head up as if to appear taller and muscular. So he wasn't any different than the mindless warriors out there fighting. She wanted to huff and pivot, kick him in the jaw and leave, but she restrained herself. He introduced himself, giving a full name first, followed with a nick name. A full name? A strange one too. Five Dolla High? Who named their kid that? Though Josh was much better, she guessed, but she didn't quite like his tone. He seemed just a tad full of himself, as if she should recognize the name, though she didn't. She swallowed her distaste though, hoping that her sudden doubts might be unneeded and he would not be this creature of lust and destruction just like any other stallion that walked these lands. Why did they all have to be the same? Why couldn't she have a decent conversation with anyone? The mares were useless, worried about the war, their mates, their coats and the dirt. It was a headache to even try to talk to them. So all that was left were the stallions, and she had to admit that they were more interesting when they weren't interested in her looks or what she could offer them; just conversation and amity.
He repeated her words about fear, agreeing. She nodded once. Yes, it was almost peaceful. Of course, when she said not as much fear, that didn't mean there was none. Everyone here knew that Ramaskith waited just over the horizon, and that if he took over the North, the "neutral" lands would be no more. They would be surrounded on all sides, and there would be nothing o stop him from invading this too and taking it for himself. She was surprised he hadn't tried it yet. She looked at Josh, "So how did you end up out here?" she asked, trying to start some sort of conversation that would go somewhere. She turned at looked in the direction of one of the territories, "Did you come from out there somewhere?" She turned back and smiled, encouraging him to talk. She really hoped that in his age, he might have grown out of the foolishness and silliness of the younger brutes, though quite the opposite may be the case, of course. But she would try to have a conversation with him.
// 417 words tehe. Sorry. xD Anni is quite...I don't know. Weird. She thinks of compliments as more than they are and jumps to conclusions, but she's willing to give Josh the benefit of the doubt. Until he does something she doesn't like, then he gets a hoof to the face. xD oh! and please post in size 1? it makes thinks look nicer ^^
I tried to give you more to work with this time. :B

He didn't respond to her right away and his demeanor left him. Yes, it was true, which horse did have a full name like him? No one, just like before. Next time he won't give out his full name, just his nick name. Josh. No one remember him from the old days, he had noticed that a lot lately, and he really didn't mind, The older you get the morethey will forget he thought to himself.
Josh turned back to Anniston and shrugged, "My hooves brought me here." he said simply and smiled. "I was born in the North, was happy at content for awhile. But than that all changed." his eyes darkened as he spoke and he gazed over the valley. "The Alpha Stallion that ruled my herd, felt the need to protect the herd, so he sent out my brothers to fight his enemies. He wanted us to show the power he had." Josh shook his head, "I was young that time, cocky, inexperience and I did what I was told because this was required and I wanted to prove myself a strong stallion. Loyal to Ramaskith...but over time, it changed, my mind set changed, and I starting looking outside the war. I saw how this was all wrong, and I saw the him, how corrupted he was. I didn't want to fight anymore, I took pity of my enemies, just the fear in their eyes as they were to get struck down and never get back up. I started just chasing them off and giving them a warning...soon the other stags saw me that I was becoming weak and saw me as a threat, so, they attacked me. But before they could finish me off, I escaped with my life..." His voice has grown soft and raspy, resulting of his age, and it was a touching subject for him.
"So the next few years, I just wandered around. Picking up bits and species of whats happening to help others. Once I heard the land was slit into four parts, I didn't go back to my herd in the south, I went to the north, back to my homelands, under the rule of Rasta and now Oser too." He paused and took a deep breath, "I come here time to time to find peace and.." his voice lowered so it was barely audible as he said the last part, "to come to terms with my past..." He stood in silence after he finished. That was it, that was his story. He then said, "What brings you around here and where do you come from?" he said looking at her eyes again.

anniston She had asked him where he came from, and he told her. She hadn't expected him to quite go into much detail, and she was surprised that he would tell his tale to some stranger. Though, she was grateful that he did, not finding her strange or anything for being curious, and obviously, thankfully, did not have the mindset she was beginning to think he did. For, if all he really wanted was to have some fun, he wouldn't bother telling her some story about his past, right? She wasn't too surprised to find that he was a warrior, part of the original wars, she assumed. He mentioned fighting for Ramaskith though she did nothing to signal er distaste for him. But Josh saw how what Ramaskith was doing was wrong, and she was glad that he did. It was wrong, what had happened, and what was happening again. One creature should not be in charge of everything, especially not one so cruel and unforgiving. She hoped that he would be beat off of his pedestal and into the ground where he belonged, to rot with all of the other mindless, power-hungry brutes of their time.
She nodded once in the silence after he mentioned Rasta and Oser. Yes, they were both in the North, the only land not left to Ramaskith. Oser had waited in the West until Ramaskith had shown up, running him off, and the Southern Alpha was nowhere to be found; disappeared. He mentioned peace, and she nodded again, looking away. Peace would be wonderful, but it didn't seem as if it lay in their futures, not with such creatures that are never happy with what they are given or what has been rightfully earned. Everyone always wanted something else, something better. As long as that was the case, there would never be peace. Anniston turned her head back to look at the older greying stallion, hearing him murmur something but she didn't quite catch it. She was about to break the heavy silence that stood between them and ask what it was he had said, but he took the chance to ask her the very question she had asked him. Why was she here? Where did she come from? He turned, his eyes locking with hers and she paused, not knowing what to say.
Should she open up and give him this full story like he had told her? Honestly, there wasn't very much to tell. Her life wasn't all that interesting and she hadn't done very much with it, much to her dismay. She wished she could tell some tale about how she fought for the lesser, quite similar to the way in which Josh described his past, but she couldn't. She had never done anything like that. She had 'fought' against the war in a different way, an insignificant way that had no real affect on the outcome of things, or saving innocent lives. She suddenly felt selfish, just a tad, that she hadn't thought of actually barging into the fighting and doing something about the massacres that Ramaskith had led. She had helped in a small way, but for all she knew, she could have been killing any stallion, from either side. She cleared her throat, realizing that the silence had last much longer than she intended, and that he was still watching her, waiting for her to answer his question as he had answered hers. It was only fair, she assumed, that she tell him as much as he had told her, which appeared to be most everything. She sighed.
"I'm afraid my past isn't quite as interesting, or noble," she said, shaking her head and looking away. "I, myself, was born in the East," she scowled, "Governed by Ramaskith, of course. He owned everything, he was the Lord, as he likes to call himself." She rolled her eyes, wishing she could have found a way to strike him dead long ago. Stop things at the start, before they got out of hand. Before lives were in danger. "I was quite an active foal, I suppose. Throwing down with the colts and making fun of the fillies who would just stand around, doing the most proper thing. Though, when the time came, Ramaskith came and took all of the able bodied stallions and I had either suck it up and be nice...or leave." She laughed softly, "Bet you can guess which I chose, huh?" She swung her head back around, looking over at Josh. "Well, after that I just found myself wandering. It was much better than just standing around, waiting for something to happen. At least I was moving." She sighed again, shrugging, not saying any more about her 'past.' "I fear the day that Ramaskith takes over, the day I am forced to do what he says..." Her brown eyes met his own dark ones again. "I won't let him put chains on me again." // 841 words lalala. heh. I don't know how much there is in there for you to go off of now. xD
confused. It says he was born in the North to begin with, and then later it says that his herd was in the South?

ooc: So you know before how there was ONE land with no territories and just herds..or so I got, and then after the war the four territories. He was born in the North before the war in Ramaskith's herd. Then once it split, Ramaskith took the south part of the land (so his birth-herd is now in the south,) but Josh didn't want to go back, so he headed back North land to where he was born and joined forces with Oser and Rasta. Does that make sense? sorry if I didn't clear it up.
Sorry about not putting in 1pt size..totally forgot...sorry! And I will reply..give me a moment...
