L is for the way you look at me
O is for the only one I see
V is very, very extraordinary
E is even more than anyone that I’ve adored, oh

The wind whistled above the top of the valley, pulled through the icy teeth at the top as if through a giant comb. Under his thick winter coat, Laoch was warm. The sun shone here down in the valley, but the winds could not reach the small family of three that stood in its center. Just as well. He wouldn’t want Rita to catch a chill. He smiled gently at his firstborn daughter playing in the snow and kicking up the drifts, a dark shape against the icy white. She was precious to him, another soul to protect and a constant reminder of responsibility.
Lao turned to Repla, standing beside him. ”Our pretty daughter sure takes after her mother, doesn’t she?” He felt peaceful here, enough so to afford a bit of playfulness. They had spent the fall months here after Rita had been born, sheltered from the war. They were safe here—after all, he remembered, this land was his now, in return for his service. Lao sighed softly. He knew that he would have to return to battle soon, the problem was getting Repla to agree to stay here. But for now, for today, he would simply enjoy being here with his family. It was amazing, he mused, how they had gone from one, to two, to three, all in the span of little more than a year. Now that he had a mate and a filly, he wasn’t looking forward to being alone again. Rubbing his muzzle gently along Repla’s forehead, he sighed again, though this time to himself. Repla could tell when things were bothering him, and he wanted her to stay happy. Just for today…

so, we kinda missed the window with another sibling for Rita—they can wait if you want, since he has to go to war again anyways xD
