BONAPARTE Bon trotted hastily along through the snow, short legs churning up the icy white substance. Anxiously, he willed himself faster. Rasta, he must get to Rasta...! Just days ago he had heard of it, had heard rumors of a war starting, of the west falling, of a stag called Ramaskith rising to power at the head of this mass operation of destruction. And, with sinking heart, Bon had heard that the north would be next. He must reach his queen in time!
So he had headed north, the farthest north possible, to the place where they had first met. Though it had been less than a year ago that he and Rasta and Scath and Adalie had roamed this part of the northern territory, it felt like ages since he'd seen Rasta. His sole comforting thought was that Scath was taking care of her. This thought allowed him to sleep at night; never fear, Scath would defend the queen. Still, he was hurrying to reach her, to place himself under her service, to offer what little he could do for her...
He reached another of the many frozen rivers and started across it, tiny hooves clacking on the icy surface. However, a hollowe, thin sound came up from the ice, not the solid clump of hoof on terra firma. Small as he was, the ice would not hold. As he watched, a thin crack appeared under his front hoof, and he jumped back, leaping to shore as the river's surface shattered; the ice splintering to reveal a swiftly flowing black tide. Safe on the shore, he regarded the river, There was no possible way to cross until the ice refroze. He sighed in worry and frustration, knowing that it was useless. He'd have to wait.
Surprisingly, the decision relieved him a little, knowing that a break in travel, out of his control, had come up. He could use the rest after all... Lowering his head, he exhaled, a puff of mist rising in an iridescent halo above his dished Arabian head. Perhaps while he was here, there would be another equine in the area? Though he'd slowly grown accustomed to being on his own, he still enjoyed interacting with new horses.
For now though, he would rest. Thrashing his hoof in the snowbank under a sheltering pine tree, he cleared himself a bed of sorts beneath the frost-encrusted needles. Squeezing his compact body into the space, he closed his eyes, just for a moment...
She seemed all breeds, all at once, and every color and size. In typical dreamlike fashion, her appearance made no sense and complete sense all at once. And she stood before him again, that beautiful mosaic of a mare, though this time without wings. He had missed her...
The slumbering stag smiled softly in his sleep. --behind the post-- 475 words anyone wanna come play with Bon? just wake him up; he's a regular Sleeping Beauty xD [/size]

Amuna's hooves caused the snow to make a delicious crackling sound beneath her. She liked the way it sounded, like she was stepping over a multitude of ice crystals. Of course, the snow was not really ice and did not possess its stinging quality, a fact that she was grateful for. Her creamy coat, accented by points of soft pink, blended easily into her winter background. The whiteness of Abyssis Aquarum was the perfect backdrop for a mare that did not want to be noticed. She was perfectly content to enjoy the scenery all by herself, to lose herself in her surroundings and in doing so, distance herself from all of life's cares. She was good at losing herself within herself, letting go of reality to float in the dreamy workings of her own mind. Especially lately, with all the turmoil created with the war. She had yet to actually lay eyes on any battle scenes, however she had heard it whispered so many times that she no longered doubted its existance. She had no wish to get involved in a war, such a brutal practice. She did not even know who fought who. From what she had heard, the North Lands were still a safe haven, and hence, that was where she chose to journey. So lost in her own thoughts was she, that Amuna did not even notice the sleeping form before her until she let out a startled scream and lept to the side, one small hoof connecting with her shoulder as she flew past him and landed in a heap, snow spraying everywhere. "Oh...oh! I'm so sorry!" she spluttered, trying to scramble out of the drift she had landed in.

BONAPARTE "Oh...oh! I'm so sorry!"
Bon awakened to the sputters of a voice somewhere ahead of him. Scrambling to his feet, he peered over the edge of the snowdrift, where the crystalized substance lay in great heaps, as if some creature had taken a flying leap through them. Eyes darting around looking for the owner of the voice, Bon managed to locate a pale perlino mare in the snow before him. Her light-colored coat had camouflaged her well against the snowy backdrop.
"No, forgive me, I didn't mean to startle you!" he exclaimed, calling down to her from the top of the drift. Sliding down to where she stood, he regarded her worriedly. "Are you all right? I'm Bon, by the way," he added, still looking for signs of an injury.
"Do you think you'll be able to make it out of this drift?" he questioned, realizing that though well-intended, it probably hadn't been wise to slide down here, where the snow had previously covered a depression in the bank that was deeper than he had thought. "I probably shouldn't have come down here if I wanted to help you out," he admitted, vocalizing his thoughts and peering up at the rim. "You'll have to forgive me again for that," he sighed. "Not much of a hero sliding in to save the day!" He laughed, wondering just what exactly he'd gotten himself into.
--behind the post-- 243 words clumsy Bon <3 btw in case anyone's wondering, the thread title is NOT based on the Justin Beiber song

Amuna shivered. The drift had been composed of light, powdery snow and had given way beneath her weight almost immediately. Now she was lying in heap at the bottom of an Amuna-shaped depression, looking fearfully up at the towering walls of snow rising up on either side of her. She was contemplating just how to get out when down came the poor stallion she had tripped over. He slithered and slided down the bank until he too landed at the bottom of the drift. She stared at him in confusion. What was he doing down here? "Are you all right? I'm Bon, by the way," "I'm Amuna, but I usually go by Moon," she replied automatically to his greeting. "And I'm fine, just a little shaken up." Looking around, she saw that his plunge downward had done nothing to improve their situation. What had he hoped to accomplish by coming down? "Do you think you'll be able to make it out of this drift?" I probably shouldn't have come down here if I wanted to help you out. You'll have to forgive me again for that. Not much of a hero sliding in to save the day!"She laughed at what he had said, her laugh turning into a sob as she shivered again. Her last hope for rescue had just joined her in her predicament. "I don't...I don't think so. The snow's so powdery and soft, there's no way I'll be able to pack it so that I can climb up."

BONAPARTE
"I'm Amuna, but I usually go by Moon. And I'm fine, just a little shaken up."
The mare answered his initial questions before continuing, voicing her doubt that she'd be able to get out of the drift given the snow's consistency. He cast a worried glance at her as her statement, ended with a soft sob. Oh, she couldn't cry! He touched her neck lightly in an awkward attempt to comfort her, realizing for the first time that he didn't have far to reach, for she was only a mere hand taller than him. Encouraged, he stumbled over the words as he murmured, "Now, Moon, please don't cry! It'll be okay, we'll get out somehow; you'll see! It'll be an adventure," he added mock-boldly, trying to make her smile. "We'll get out," he repeated, though unsure of exactly how he planned to keep that promise.
He glanced around, looking for any possible escape route, but his gaze was met only by the white of the snowy banks and the blue of the slowly darkening sky. What goes up must come down...perhaps there would be a way to burrow out of the bank? If the snow was too loose to be trampled down, it could easily be shoved aside, couldn't it? And furthermore, there was already a large swath crumbled away from the bank where he'd made his clumsy entrance. Nudging Amuna's shoulder, he kicked lightly at the snow, shoving it aside. "Look, Moon! Maybe we can dig our way out?"
--behind the post-- I read Amuna's bio and almost had a heart attack when I realized that Bon finally ran into someone other than Rasta who is remotely around his height xD

Amuna felt his touch on her neck and responded with a shaky smile. “Sure we’ll get out. Sorry, I have a tendency to freak out at everything.” She looked towards the direction he was facing and saw that sure enough, the bank was thinner on one side. Despair was replaced by enthusiasm as she hopefully surveyed the wall. She made her way towards it. Was it just her or was the snow beneath her hooves beginning to thicken? She looked up at the evening sky just in time to catch a wet snowflake in the eye. She blinked it out in annoyance, as more drifted down onto her face. “It’s snowing!” she exclaimed in dismay. “We’ll have to hurry or we’ll be snowed into the drift!” She tentatively reached out towards the wall of snow and poked at it. A small flurry of snow dislodged from the rest to land upon her nose. She snorted and moved back. If she tried to shove through it, she be buried from the falling snow. She looked appealing towards Bon, hoping he would know what to do

BONAPARTE
She gave him a shaky smile in response, and he felt his heart melt the tiniest bit. “Sure we’ll get out. Sorry, I have a tendency to freak out at everything.”
"Not at all," he responded, smiling back in what he hoped was a reassuring way. Suddenly, a snowflake caught his eye as it drifted lazily down. "It's snowing!" she exclaimed, but instead of the delight he expected, her tone was one of dismay. “We’ll have to hurry or we’ll be snowed into the drift!” she continued, and he nodded slowly, realizing that she was right. As she spoke, she kicked slightly at the lower side of the bank, and he watched it crumble. "Hmm, I see what you mean," he noted, stepping back and eyeing the wall of snow. "But maybe if we..." He attempted to take another step back and accidentally backed into her. Jumping forward clumsily, he unintentionally knocked into the snow bank. A little shower of snow fell from the top of the ledge and he craned his neck, looking up. "Um...Moon, we might want to back up..."
--behind the post-- ah, klutzy Bon Bon so, you can decide if it falls or not xD if it does fall, you also get to decide if they're freed or if they're further trapped decisions, decisions...

Amuna yelped as he bumped into her, skittering to the side and unintentionally smacking into the thin side of the walls. More snow showered down upon her. She shook it off in annoyance. Now, the wall was even thinner, looking like it might crumble down upon them any moment. While they would be covered in snow from its collapse, it was so thin Amuna doubted they would be in any danger of being buried. She was considering taking a flying leap at it, to try and knock it down, when she saw that the snow was stacked again a large rock. Great. No escape route that way. Now they were hemmed in by three walls of snow and one big rock. "Um...Moon, we might want to back up..." She glanced over at Bon to see him staring at a ledge of snow that was leaning precariously. Unlike the thinner bank, it was substantially piled high with snow. If that one fell, they’d be buried for sure., Amuna decided that right about now, she hated snow. She sucked in her breath and eyed the bank cautiously. “Move to where? There’s nowhere to go!” her voice rose in a crescendo as she felt panic creeping in. “Of all the snow drifts to jump into, I just had to choose the biggest, deepest one of all. Now what? Wait until the snow thaws?” She was on the verge of tears now, feeling horrible about the predicament she had gotten them in. Drip, drip. The sound of splashing water caught her ears. The snow really was melting. A tree, just visible over the snow bank, was slowly losing its icicles. They plunked and splashed as they melted into tiny droplets of water. If the icicles were melting, that meant the snow was melting. That meant the precarious ledge was also melting. “Bon, I think it’s melting. The snow I mean. I think the snow’s melting! That ledge is going to topple soon!” She backed as far away from it as she could and started desperately pawing at the snow bank in front of her. Must. Get. Out. Now.

BONAPARTE
Bon could hear the panic in Amuna's voice, and his eyes darted around frantically, trying to find some way for them to get out of this death trap.
“Move to where? There’s nowhere to go! Of all the snow drifts to jump into, I just had to choose the biggest, deepest one of all. Now what? Wait until the snow thaws?”
He looked over to her anxiously, wondering why she'd said that there was nowhere to...there. He saw what she had been talking about; a large boulder was blocking off their escape in front, and of course, from behind, they were practically pressed against the thicker wall of snow. Which, as luck would have it, was beginning to melt. Bon looked wistfully over at the little plowed path he'd made in sliding down, wishing that the snow was the right consistency for climbing back out again. As if purposely trying to defy him, the forming slush in the track began to slide slowly downwards, an icy trickle of water briefly plopping down near his hooves. Biting his lip, he tried to think of a comforting word for Amuna, when she spoke again, apparently having noticed the dripping wall behind them.
"“Bon, I think it’s melting. The snow I mean. I think the snow’s melting! That ledge is going to topple soon!”
She rushed forward, beginning to strike at the thinner wall with her front hooves. He moved up beside her, halfheartedly joining in and chipping away. Their efforts would be pretty much useless anyway with the boulder behind the snow. His hoof suddenly struck something hard. Unless...
"Moon, can you tell if there's something there?" Bon asked cautiously, hoping against hope. If there was a ledge...if only there were a few footholds in the boulder, they might be able to clamber out...

What was he talking about? Amuna, beginning to feel more and more frantic, looked around. Tell him if there was something there? She did not understand. Then she saw what he was looking at. The snow she had loosened had fallen away to reveal more of the boulder. What about the boulder? She peered closer and noticed that there was a small ledge upon in, not large enough to support all of her hooves, but maybe if there were others…. She continued to knock away snow, saying “Yes, yes! I see the ledge!” At first she was discouraged, for it appeared there was nothing more that would provide hoof-holds. But then a large chunk of snow fell away and behind it was another ledge, this one bigger than the first. Only a couple more ledges like that one and they’d be out! She backed away from the rock to look enquiringly at Bon. “Who should go first?” she asked, reluctant to test out the safety of the rock herself, but not wanting to be left behind. What is Bon got out and she could not?
