BONAPARTE
Bon relaxed visibly when she said that she wasn't hurt. But if that wasn't the case, what was the matter? "No!" he exclaimed in response to her whispered explanation. "How could I be mad at you, Moon?" He didn't understand. "And if you wanted to leave, that's fine. You are free to stay or go. If you stayed, I would love the company, but if not..." his voice trailed, "...if not, I just came to say goodbye. I wouldn't be angry at whichever you choose, Moon. I promise!"
Bon continued to look at her, half hopefully, and half still in disbelief. Is that what she had been so upset about. A part of him marveled at how the gentle soul seemed to care about his feelings. Of everyone he'd met, no one had been as sensitive and sweet as Amuna. Under her gaze, he felt himself melt a little. And the small bay stag wondered if maybe what he had been seeking was closer than he had imagined...
--behind the post-- okay, this is killing me. I will confess. thereisalarg possibilitythathemightmaybedieinthewar. But then there is the possibility of Amuna...I am so torn DX I just wanted to give you a heads up before this goes any further. *sniffles*

Amuna blinked in surprise. “Oh,” was all the response she could muster. He was not angry with her? She could hardly comprehend the thought. Seeking to patch up her monosyllable reply, she said, “I’ve been an idiot. I’m sorry. I just can never seem to make the right decisions, no matter how hard I try.” She sniffed, trying, somewhat successfully, to dry her tears. “Of course I’d be happy to stay!” Tentatively, she added, “Are you going to stay here in Abyssus Aquarum for awhile? Is it your home or are you planning to moving on?” Of course, there was another question behind her last one. She had heard and rejoiced in hearing that Bon wanted her to stay, but what if he was going to leave? She did not like the thought at all. What if he only wanted to stay and enjoy her company for a little while before leaving on whatever business he had? She was not sure whether she wanted to accompany him around the land. She had heard too many rumors of wars and aspiring tyrants, to allow her to travel with ease of mind. She did not even know where Bon planned on going; what if he was involved in the war, or worse, was on the enemy side? She doubted the latter, as she trusted completely in his kind spirit, but the question still bothered her. She hoped, desperately, that he was not part of this senseless war, for she planned to stay out of it as much as possible. If he left to join the fighting where would that leave her? ................... buuu...buuu...why?? why do you think Bon is going to die?? Amuna will be heartbroken!

BONAPARTE
She would stay. The simple phrase uttered in the blink of an eye suddenly seemed to have the power to bowl him over, to render him momentarily speechless. Of course, he hadn’t wanted her to leave, but had he wanted her to stay? Somewhere in the back of his mind a tiny yes uncurled itself, stretching, threatening to fully awaken and to dominate his thoughts. A little startled, unsure of what to make of this new emotion, Bon shoved the feeling back down, forcing himself to concentrate on what Amuna was saying. ”…been an idiot…sorry…can never seem to make the right decisions…” The mare’s words fluttered past him, and he scrambled to contradict her. Why, she hadn’t been an idiot at all! But before he could get his tongue to form the words, she was off again, asking a new question, presumably to mask the awkward tongue-tied silence that he’d unintentionally created. ”Well,” he began in response, ”For now, I suppose you could say that it is my home…before we stumbled upon each other, I had been on my way to offer my services to the queen of this land—our queen Rasta,” he added quickly, wondering if she had heard the legends of the Alphas as well. ”I have had the honor of meeting her only once before, but I pledged that I would always be near if she needed my help. Now, with the war on, I’m afraid that it might be true. Of course,” he finished softly, ”I don’t know how useful I’d be…”
--behind the post-- late :\ but I promised to get this up! He’s slowly falling head over heels, but doesn’t know what to do with himself as he’s never felt this way…

Amuna nodded sympathetically, understanding the quietness of his voice when he wondered aloud just how much help he’d be. She could understand the feeling – indeed, it seemed to pursue her wherever she went! How she hated to feel useless, unwanted. Just the thought of it made her sad. But no, she was not unwanted, Bon wanted her! Wait a moment. Her brow furrowed as she thought over his words again. Pledge Rasta his help? What sort of help? Her eyes widened as the full impact of his words settled in. “You mean,” she began hesitantly, trying to keep her voice from betraying her emotions, “Help Rasta with the war? So you're...leaving?” That was the last thing she wanted! If he went traipsing off to go fight in some foolish war he'd probably get himself killed! She wanted to stamp a hoof she was so frustrated. But what did she want? Looking at Bon, his warm brown eyes and careless smile, Amuna could feel her heart beginning to flutter. She suppressed a sigh and looked away. If Bon chose to join this senseless war, she could never force herself to follow him. Which meant he would be lost to her forever.

BONAPARTE
”You mean…you’re leaving?”
Bon felt his chest constrict at the words. When she put it like that…Leaving was something that other horses did. He had been left. He did not leave. But wasn’t that exactly what he was doing?
Formerly, he’d thought of it as quite the opposite—he had left Rasta with Scath, and now he was making it right, returning. But of course, that was before he’d met Amuna. Before he’d known that he would have someone to leave. Someone to leave…wait, didn’t that imply that they were…together…somehow? He felt an odd tingle of confusion and excitement. Is that what Amuna considered them? Together? Well, maybe not together-together, but…! The little stag’s thoughts spun, unfortunately leaving him with a vaguely dopey look on his face as Amuna waited for his answer.
”Leaving? Well….I made a promise, you see. It’s…what I need to do, Moon. But it won’t be leaving! Not if you come with me!” The invitation slipped out of his mouth before he realized that he half-wanted to reel the words back in. What if she refused? What would make her want to go with him anyway? Bon ducked his head, embarrassed. ”Er, that is, of course, only if you wanted to. Which you don’t have to! I just thought…” He paused awkwardly, daring to sneak a peek at her expression up through the fringe of his inky forelock. What she must think of him now!

Amuna stared at Bon in disbelief. Not if she came with him? Did he just ask her to accompany him? Nobody wanted her along! She was just silly little Amuna. But she had just heard the words from his mouth, practically asking her to! She could barely believe it. He seemed to be having a double-take now, stuttering over himself as he carefully back-pedaled. At first she felt her heart sink, but decided that he did not want to leave her behind, not really, but he was just making sure he had an out, in case she refused. She could feel a foolish smile coming over her face and tried, only partially successfully, to hide it. She grinned wickedly at him. “Come with you? Is that a question or a statement?” She wondered why she was so ridiculously happy. Was it even possible to be this happy? Of course it was, because she was experiencing it now! She wanted to spin in dizzy circles for joy, because she knew now that Bon wanted her! There was only one mattered left to clear up. “Look,” she said quietly, a notch under her previous tone, “I don’t want to fight and I don’t even want to be involved in this war. But if you want me along, truly want me to, I’ll be happy to accompany you. Just please don’t expect me to fight.” There she had said it. There no way she would get herself involved in any kind of skirmish, not even for Bon. But so long as he wanted her, nothing else mattered.

BONAPARTE
He shook his head rapidly, the words tumbling out at the same pace. ”No, Moon, I would never ask you to fight. It is your decision whether or not you desire to be a part of this war, of course. But…if you come—“ his heart was leaping at her acceptance, still half unbelieving—”If you come, I don’t know what Rasta will have me do. I might have to fight, or she may release me. It’s not planned, and it’s not…perfect—“ Most certainly not as perfect as that little pink wrinkle slightly off center in the middle of her muzzle…what was he doing?!”…I just don’t know what will happen.” He hesitated slightly, biting his lip. ”Is that…understandable, Moon? Er, does it make sense?” He drew himself up t his full height, hoping to appear like he had some authority on the matter, if not some idea of what he was rushing into. Perhaps she thought him a bit of an idiot, but she had agreed to go, hadn’t she? Hadn’t she?? A sudden smile broke across his face, one he could not contain. Amuna liked him, she liked him, Bon, the short little awkward stag, enough to travel with him. Bon couldn’t have been happier.

Amuna’s lip twitched, forming itself into a half-smile. Understandable? So long as one could decipher the stallion’s unintelligible jumble of stuttered words, it was perfectly understandable! She had grasped that not only did Bon not want her to fight, but he might not have to either. Which was a good thing, because she doubted he would last more than a minute in the heat of battle. “Yes, I think I’ve got it. Only just promise me that you’ll do your best to be released from the fighting!” The words were out of her mouth before she realized what she was saying. She glanced anxiously at Bon, his smile a reflection of her own foolish grin. Hopefully her hastily spoken words would not cause that smile to go away, because she would hate to see the last of it. She found herself wondering about Bon, how old he was, how much he had experienced in his life time. She wondered whether he had ever had a mate. The thought caused her to glance about hastily, as though some past mate of his might be hidden in the trees, watching them even now. Of course she saw nothing and let out a bit of her pent up breath. She desperately hoped not.

BONAPARTE
”I can’t promise anything, Moon. I’ll do what she needs me to do. But then again, it might not be much,” he added quickly, as if that would make it better. A seed of doubt began to grow in his chest. What did she mean, asking that he try to stay out of the fighting? He could too fight, Bon thought defensively. What, just because he was small meant that he was weak? Of course, he didn’t want to go out and fight, the prospect rather frightened him, but he was beginning to face it with a grim determination. He would serve his queen. He would be her little tin soldier. For once, he would do something noble. Bon would prove to everyone and to himself that he could do his part.
He frowned slightly, nodding in agreement with himself. ”You know, just because I’m small doesn’t mean that I’m helpless,” the little Arab said abruptly. Bon raised his head defiantly, daring her to make fun of him. If she didn’t respect that, he didn’t need her tagging along anyway! Immediately after thinking that, he forced his mind to soften. No…he didn’t want her to leave…but…he didn’t know what to think. Oh, how he wanted to stay here with her, to just wander aimlessly through the trees, watching her move along beside him and seeing that funny little half-smile, making her laugh and letting his awkwardness slowly melt away as they became more comfortable with each other. But as soon as he let himself slip into that happy daydream, the promise made to the golden Alpha would always sneak up on him and tap him on the shoulder, looming in the background. He wanted to do what was right. Bon just didn’t know what that was anymore.

Amuna’s ears flickered backward. She had be afraid that he would go and take her plea the wrong way and sure enough, he had. She had to resist the urge to stomp an impatient hoof on the ground. “No, no no!” She exclaimed. “I’m not, that’s not what I…” Her voice trailed off as she attempted to explain herself. What had she meant? Why had she even said it at all? Aside from the fact that it was dumb question to ask, Amuna could not help but wonder what had motivated her to say it. She let the mental image that had appeared right before she had asked run through her head again. Bon, being crushed by malicious hooves, his form crumpling lifelessly under the impact. She shuddered, blinking the horrible thought away. Though the thought of any death repulsed her, the idea of losing Bon was unthinkable. What would she do if he died? How could life go on? She sighed and looked at him. How could she communicate her intent to him? By telling the truth, probably, as much as something in her resisted the idea. “Look,” she said, softer this time, “I don’t care if you’re small or not. If you were twice your size I’d still say what I said. I just can’t bear the thought of losing you!” There, it was out. Amuna bit back the tears, looking sadly at the ground. If Bon was mad at her, she would never forgive herself. .......................... sorry for any typos, I'm in a hurry
